The present invention relates to systems and methods for measuring signal strength emitted by a wireless portable device to determine the location of the wireless portable device. The wireless portable device may be located within a designated geographical location, premise or facility. The measurement involves two levels of transmissions. A first level involves a user's wireless portable device receiving signals from a plurality of beacons in the vicinity. The second level involves transmission of repeater signals from a mesh network. The payload of these signals, which may include a duress signal, includes the strength of the received beacon signals, so that when the duress signal is received by a controller, the signal strengths of both levels/types of transmissions can be determined. This two-level collection of signals is then processed by a neural network which have been previously trained to classify the signal collections into precise locations.

According to an embodiment, an emergency communication (EC) system includes an emergency notification application for generating and receiving one or more emergency notification messages; a Websocket server for connecting one or more computing devices configured with the emergency notification application; a cloud-based storage server, wherein the storage server is configured for storing a plurality of rules for determining one or more actions to be taken in an emergency; and one or more communication channel identifiers for distributing the emergency notification messages to the one or more computing devices.

A computer-based media data processor for controlling transmission of digitized media data in a packet switching network. When the processor receives a request from a network client node for presentation of specified media data stream presentation unit sequences the processor in response retrieves media data from a corresponding media access location, determines the media data type of each presentation unit in the retrieved media data, and designates each retrieved presentation unit to a specific media data presentation unit sequence based on the media data type determination for that presentation unit. The processor then assembles a sequence of presentation descriptors for each of the specific presentation unit sequences, all presentation descriptors in an assembled sequence being of a common media data type, and then assembles transmission presentation unit packets each composed of at least a portion of a presentation descriptor and its media data, all presentation descriptors and media data in an assembled packet being of a common media data type. The assembled packets are then released for transmission via the network to the client processing node requesting presentation of the specified presentation unit sequences.
