An odor control composition may be dosed to a wastewater treatment system to control hydrogen sulfide levels. The composition may include a sulfide-reducing agent and an oxidizer. Synergy between the compounds of the odor control composition may facilitate efficient reduction of hydrogen sulfide levels. The sulfide-reducing agent and the oxidizer may be present in a single odor control composition or may be dosed to the system separately.

Synergistic methods for odor control

Systems and methods for biological and chemical gas treatment are disclosed. The systems may generally include a biological treatment zone and a chemical oxidation zone. An oxidizing agent subsystem may deliver an oxidizing agent, such as chlorine dioxide, to the chemical oxidation zone. The oxidizing agent subsystem may generate the oxidizing agent in situ from a product of the biological treatment zone. The oxidizing agent subsystem may include a reaction chamber and a source of a reactant, such as an alkaline metal chlorite reservoir. A controller may be in communication with various sensors and other components to generally manage operation of the disclosed systems.

Gas treatment systems and methods

A method and system of controlling addition of a treating agent based on a control function comprising a plurality of demand values is disclosed. Process parameters of a fluid to be treated are measured and one or more control signals are generated based on the measured process values and the control function. The control signals are used to actuate a treating agent dosing system and also used to monitor and compare the levels, status or condition of the treating agent. Additional features of the invention compensate for rain events.

Dosing control system and method

Systems and methods for reducing odors utilizes oxidation-reduction potential to characterize the quality of water or wastewater and control addition of a species thereto that reduces or inhibits biological sulfide generation. Oxidation-reduction potential is measured at a downstream station and, based on the measurement, a nitrate compound is added at an upstream station to promote inoffensive biological products instead of foul-smelling products.

System for controlling sulfide generation

A method and apparatus for treating wastewater streams by adding, either separately or as a mixture, a nitrate containing compound and an alkaline material in an amount sufficient to achieve a lower concentration of atmospheric hydrogen sulfide and dissolved sulfides downstream of the addition as compared to the atmospheric hydrogen sulfide and dissolved sulfides present in the wastewater stream prior to the addition. By adding alkaline material in addition to a nitrate containing compounds, the amount of nitrate containing compound added can be reduced by at least 10% as compared to the amount of nitrate that would theoretically need to be added in the absence of alkaline material to achieve a comparable lower concentration of atmospheric hydrogen sulfide and dissolved sulfides in the wastewater stream.
