Edge insulation structure for electrical cable

An edge insulated electrical cable includes an electrical cable and an edge insulation structure applied to the electrical cable at the location. A die assembly for applying edge coating to a film is also disclosed.

An electrical cable includes a conductor extending lengthwise along the cable, and a reservoir extending lengthwise along the cable at a first lateral location in the cable. The reservoir contains a dielectric material that is adapted to be transferred to a different second lateral location in the cable.

An electrical cable arrangement comprises a first electrical cable and a second electrical cable. The first electrical cable comprises first and second conductor sets and a first carrier film. The cable comprises a first pinched portion between the first and second conductor sets. The second electrical cable comprises a third conductor set and a second carrier film. The first and second carrier films include cover portions at least partially covering each of the first and second conductor sets and the third conductor set, respectively, and parallel portions extending from both sides of each of the first and second conductor sets and the third conductor set, respectively. The first electrical cable and the second electrical cable extend in substantially the same direction and are arranged in a nested configuration such that the insulated conductors of the third conductor set are disposed within the first pinched portion of the first electrical cable.

Electrical cable arrangement

A shielded electrical cable () includes conductor sets () spaced apart along a width of the cable and extending along a length of the cable. Each conductor set includes first and second insulated conductors (), one or two drain grounding wires () disposed between the first and second insulated conductors, first and second conductive shielding films () disposed on opposite first and second sides of the conductor set, and an adhesive layer () bonding the first shielding film to the second shielding film.

Shielded electrical cable

An edge insulated electrical cable including an electrical cable having opposing uppermost and lowermost surfaces and a conductive material near a longitudinal edge of the cable. The conductive material is susceptible to making electrical contact at the longitudinal edge. An edge insulation structure is applied to the electrical cable covering the edge and portions of the upper most and lowermost surfaces.

A filament coating apparatus comprising a frame for releasably securing a filament, and a carriage mounted on the frame to oscillate between a first position and a second position. There is a first filament holding fixture mounted on the carriage and a second filament holding fixture also mounted on the carriage in axial alignment with the first filament holding fixture to secure a measured filament portion, preferably of an optical fiber, including a bare portion thereof, located inside a first boundary and a second boundary, between the first filament holding fixture and the second filament holding fixture. At least one spray head is attached to the frame at the first position with at least one radiation source attached to the frame at the second position. The measured filament portion moves between the spray head and the radiation source, during oscillation of the carriage between the first position and the second position to place the bare portion to receive a curable coating composition from the spray head, for application from the first boundary to the second boundary, and thereafter to cure the curable coating by exposure to radiation from the radiation source.
