A buttress applier cartridge configured to interface with an end effector of a surgical stapling instrument is disclosed. The buttress applier cartridge includes a first loading region configured to interface with an anvil of the end effector and a second loading region configured to interface with an elongate channel of the end effector. The first loading region includes a first absorbable layer and a loading assembly for securing the first absorbable layer to the anvil as the anvil approaches the first absorbable layer. The second loading region includes a staple cartridge removably coupled to the buttress applier cartridge. The staple cartridge includes a deck and a second absorbable layer positioned on the deck.

Dual-sided reinforced reload for surgical instruments

A method is used to reduce a volume of a stomach of a patient. The method includes inverting a portion of a stomach wall to thereby create an inverted portion. An expandable member is positioned adjacent to the outer surface of the inverted portion. The expandable member is expanded to thereby expand the inverted portion. The expanded expandable member has a first outer diameter. A base region of the inverted portion is cinched to thereby capture the expanded expandable member in the expanded inverted portion. The expanded expandable member has a first outer diameter. Expanding and cinching provide a cinch diameter to first outer diameter ratio from approximately 0.5:1 to approximately 0.9:1.

Apparatus and method for gastric volume reduction utilizing an expandable member

The invention is a leaf blower with a handle extended from the rear opposite the exhaust blower pipe. The exhaust pipe has a turned down blower orifice extender. The leaf blower has an air inlet on the upper surface. Various handgrips which operate with the extended handle aids the movement of the blower pipe. The leaf blower may be held at the operators side or attached with various devices to a belt or neck harness with hooks or pommels on the extended handle.

The invention is a spill proof snack bowl or container with a box section which may have a beveled bottom. The box section may be square, rectangular, round, oval or spherical. The bowl has a continuous wall to create a depth and an open top and a removable lid. The removable lid has a secondary opening which opening is closed by a secondary opening piece. The invention is a floatation game device with a pole, which pole has a first (upper) end, a second (lower) end, and an intermediate section(s). A ballast weight is attached to the lower end. A generally ovoid and round float is attached to the intermediate section. A rope connector is attached to the upper end. A medical instrument for positioning an internal organ during surgical and diagnostic procedures is provided. In one embodiment, the medical instrument includes a body having a tissue grasping element and an actuating member effective to move the tissue grasping element between an open position and a closed position. The body also includes a flexible member which has a portion secured to the body and at least one free end. In use, the tissue grasping element grasps or penetrates a portion of the tissue on or near the body organ. Tension can then be applied to the flexible member to reposition and secure the body organ.

A tracing an object has front and rear shells that are pivoted to each other to form a case. The rear shell defines a platform for supporting an object and the front defines a clear window pane forming a tracing plane through which the object is visible. A leg connected between the shells supports the front shell at an open position. A support movably mounted to the front shell carries a view port to view the object through the window pane and to trace an image of the object on the tracing plane.

A device for the hanging of screw-top bottles and tubes such as shampoo bottles and toothpaste tubes on a shower curtain rod, towel rod, storage rack, toothbrush rack or any other bar, rail or line. The device has threads on its bottom or lower section that screw to the top or neck of a shampoo bottle or tube and threads on its top or upper section that screw into the cap of the bottle or tube. The device also contains a hanger that hangs it over a rod or bar. The device allows bottles and tubes to be stored out of the way while still allowing for easy and safe access to the stored bottles and tubes.

An automated fine needle biopsy device is described for extracting tissue from the body predominantly in suspected cases of breast cancer. However, it can be used in other parts of the body accessible to needle biopsy. The device causes a fine needle, which is attached to the device, to reciprocate and/or rotate at the same time causing tissue to enter the needle. The depth and number of the thrusts can be pre-programmed, and the force behind each thrust is constant. Suction may or may not be used. The tissue extracted is subsequently expelled onto glass slides for microscopic interpretation. This device and method offer a vast improvement over the present method for fine needle biopsy wherein it is performed manually and in a very haphazard way.

However, it can be used in other parts of the body accessible to needle biopsy. The device causes a fine needle, which is attached to the device, to reciprocate and/or rotate at the same time causing tissue to enter the needle. The depth and number of the thrusts can be pre-programmed, and the force behind each thrust is constant. Suction may or may not be used. The tissue extracted is subsequently expelled onto glass slides for microscopic interpretation. This device and method offer a vast improvement over the present method for fine needle biopsy wherein it is performed manually and in a very haphazard way. The prime deficiency of the manual method currently used is insufficient tissue extraction. This device will correct that situation enabling accurate diagnosis to be made on adequate tissue samples obtained. No similar device is known to be in clinical use at the present time.

In accordance with the present invention there is provided a device for stabilizing and/or manipulating moving tissue, such as a beating heart, so as to facilitate surgical procedures on such tissues. The device includes a tube having a proximal end, a distal end and a lumen extending therebetween. The tube is operatively connected to a suction source so as to draw air through the tube from the distal end to the proximal end. The device further includes at least one foot operatively connected to the distal end of the tube. The foot extends laterally from the tube. In a preferred embodiment the device includes a pair of feet which are spaced apart laterally from each other. Each foot has a proximal surface, and a distal surface for making contact with the tissue. The distal surface of each foot has an outer perimeter having a substantially spherical profile. This spherical profile helps the device make better contact with the tissue, so the tissue can be more effectively manipulated.

In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a surgical device for attaching a first hollow organ to a second hollow organ and creating a passageway therebetween. The device includes a first member comprising a first prong for entering a wall of the first hollow organ and a second prong for entering a wall of the second hollow organ. The prongs each have a proximal end which attaches to the first member and a distal end extending therefrom. The device further includes a second member having a plow for incising at least one of the hollow organs so as to create a passageway between the hollow organs. The second member further includes a plurality of needle paths on either side of the plow for guiding a needle through the walls of the hollow organ on either side of the passageway. The device further includes a means for driving a needle, having a suture attached thereto, so as to attach the hollow organs together. Lastly, the device includes a frame for coupling the first member and the second member together in operational engagement.
