Thermometer assembly

A method of fabricating a strip thermometer comprising the steps of applying a plurality of cholesteric liquid crystal compositions exhibiting color changes over different temperature responsive ranges to a first substrate; coating a second substrate with an uncured solid film forming epoxy resin composition; partially curing the epoxy resin composition coating on the second substrate to a non-absorbing partially cured state in which the cholesteric liquid crystal compositions will not be absorbed by the epoxy resin composition; placing the first and second substrates together so that the partially cured epoxy resin composition overlies the cholesteric liquid crystal compositions; forcing the first and second substrates toward each other to cause the partially cured epoxy resin composition to flow around the cholesteric liquid crystal compositions and into contact with the first substrate; and subsequently, finishing the curing of the epoxy resin composition to bond the epoxy resin composition to the first substrate. The thermometer produced by this method is also disclosed.

Thermosensing article and method of manufacture

A gas pressure regulator for a butane lighter or other gas burner is created by the interaction of two superposed washers and an underlying flat retainer disc. A compressed elastomeric washer exerts pressure on a more rigid washer having a distal textured face in contact with an opposing face of the retainer disc. Gas flows through the interstitial array between said textured face and the opposing face of the retainer disc and a net pressure differential is effected.

A multiple laminate humidity sensing device for visually indicating changes in relative humidity including a moisture impermeable transparent cover layer; an indicator layer including a transparent carrier material and an inorganic salt composition dispersed in the transparent carrier material that provides a known visible color response to changes in relative humidity to which the indicator layer is exposed; and a moisture permeable reflective layer behind the indicator layer so that light passing through the cover layer and the indicator layer is reflected back through the indicator layer and the cover layer so as to be readily visible from that side of the cover layer opposite the indicator layer.

Ignition mechanism for a pyrophoric lighter

A multiple laminae humidity sensing device for visually indicating changes in relative humidity including a moisture impermeable transparent support layer having a viewing side and a sensing side opposite said viewing side; an indicator layer with a plurality of filter cells, each including a transparent carrier material and an inorganic salt composition dispersed in the transparent carrier material that provides a known visible color response to changes in relative humidity on the sensing side of the support layer and a moisture permeable reflective layer behind the indicator layer so that light passing through the support layer and the indicator layer is reflected back through the indicator layer and the support layer through the viewing side of the support layer so as to be readily visible from the viewing side of the support layer.

Digital sensing device

A sensing device with a sensing coil that moves an indicator member about an axis in response to changes in predetermined conditions and an optically reflective member associated with the indicator member on the coil to generate a virtual image of the indicator member in a reading plane. The application also encompasses the method of operation.
