A modular particle collection system includes a hollow lower member, a hollow upper member separably attached to the hollow lower member, a collection container separably attached to a longitudinal end of the hollow lower member opposite the hollow upper member, an inlet portion extending radially from the hollow lower member and configured to be fitted to a first portion of a vacuum system, a particulate filter, and an outlet portion extending radially outward from the hollow upper member and configured to be fitted to a second portion of vacuum system. Additional modular particle collection systems and a method of making a modular collection system are also disclosed.

Modular particle collection system and related methods

Neutron detectors for measuring a neutron yield of a neutron generator may include at least one particle counter disposed in a housing and at least one removable cartridge for receiving at least one collection medium. The at least one removable cartridge configured to be at least partially inserted into the housing to position the collection medium proximate the at least one particle counter. Detector assemblies for evaluating an output of a particle generator may include a housing and a plurality of cartridges that may be selectively received in the housing. Methods of detecting an output of a neutron source include inserting a collection medium into a cartridge, positioning the collection medium proximate a neutron source, and inserting the cartridge with the collection medium into a housing of a neutron yield detector.

Detectors for use with particle generators and related assemblies, systems and methods

A chemical detection system includes a frame, an emitter coupled to the frame, and a detector coupled to the frame proximate the emitter. The system also includes a shielding system coupled to the frame and positioned at least partially between the emitter and the detector, wherein the frame positions a sensing surface of the detector in a direction substantially parallel to a plane extending along a front portion of the frame. A method of analyzing composition of a suspect object includes directing neutrons at the object, detecting gamma rays emitted from the object, and communicating spectrometer information regarding the gamma rays. The method also includes presenting a GUI to a user with a dynamic status of an ongoing neutron spectroscopy process. The dynamic status includes a present confidence for a plurality of compounds being present in the suspect object responsive to changes in the spectrometer information during the ongoing process.

Chemical detection system and related methods

An integrated field emission array for ion desorption includes an electrically conductive substrate; a dielectric layer lying over the electrically conductive substrate comprising a plurality of laterally separated cavities extending through the dielectric layer; a like plurality of conically-shaped emitter tips on posts, each emitter tip/post disposed concentrically within a laterally separated cavity and electrically contacting the substrate; and a gate electrode structure lying over the dielectric layer, including a like plurality of circular gate apertures, each gate aperture disposed concentrically above an emitter tip/post to provide a like plurality of annular gate electrodes and wherein the lower edge of each annular gate electrode proximate the like emitter tip/post is rounded. Also disclosed herein are methods for fabricating an integrated field emission array.

Methods and apparatus to capture images of fluorescence generated by ionizing radiation and determine a position of a beam of ionizing radiation generating the fluorescence from the captured images. In one embodiment, the fluorescence is the result of ionization and recombination of nitrogen in air.

Method and apparatus to monitor a beam of ionizing radiation

The present disclosure relates, according to some embodiments, to apparatus, devices, systems, and/or methods for real-time detection of a concealed or camouflaged explosive device (e.g., EFPs and IEDs) from a safe stand-off distance. Apparatus, system and/or methods of the disclosure may also be operable to identify and/or spatially locate and/or detect an explosive device. An apparatus or system may comprise an x-ray generator that generates high-energy x-rays and/or electrons operable to contact and activate a metal comprised in an explosive device from a stand-off distance; and a detector operable to detect activation of the metal. Identifying an explosive device may comprise detecting characteristic radiation signatures emitted by metals specific to an EFP, an IED or a landmine. Apparatus and systems of the disclosure may be mounted on vehicles and methods of the disclosure may be performed while moving in the vehicle and from a safe stand-off distance.
