A system includes an engine having multiple cylinders and an exhaust manifold. A fuel delivery device and an igniter are disposed in the exhaust manifold. The fuel delivery device injects a fuel into the exhaust manifold. The system also includes an exhaust aftertreatment setup in fluid communication with the exhaust manifold, and a controller in communication with the multiple cylinders, the fuel delivery device and the igniter. The controller is configured to deactivate at least one cylinder to provide air to the exhaust manifold, and control the fuel delivery device to provide the fuel within the exhaust manifold such that the fuel and the air from the at least one deactivated cylinder forms a mixture within the exhaust manifold. The controller is configured to control the igniter to ignite the mixture to generate combustion products within the exhaust manifold for heating the exhaust aftertreatment setup.

System and method for controlling an engine

A snap-action valve assembly includes a valve flap positioned within a conduit for controlling exhaust flow through the conduit. A shaft supports the valve flap in the conduit for rotation about a pivot axis between a closed position and an open position. A guide is fixed to the valve flap. A torsion spring is positioned at least partially outside the conduit and includes a first end restricted from rotation in at least one direction. The torsion spring includes a second end coupled to the guide. The torsion spring is preloaded to urge the valve flap into contact with an inner surface of the conduit when the valve flap is in the closed position.

The translation path can include a translation axis, a first set of rollers, which can include a plurality of first bottom rollers and a plurality of first top rollers, the first set of rollers can have a first centerline, and a second set of rollers, which can include a plurality of second bottom rollers and a plurality of second top rollers, the second set of rollers can have a second centerline, line, where the first centerline and the second centerline can extend away from the translation axis at an angle in the direction of translation.

Apparatus for manufacturing a metal framing member

An orthopaedic implant, namely a locking device for anchoring to cortical bone for the fixation of fractures of bone and/or dislocations of joints. The locking device includes a cable, a locking member slidable over the cable, and a spreader member attached to a distal end of the cable. The locking member has an expandable portion that may be expanded when the locking member engages the spreader member. A capturing assembly has a raised portion and a contractible passage therethrough for securably receiving a proximal portion of the cable, and preferably includes a cooperating sleeve and annular-shaped member adapted to contract the contractible passage. The cable and locking device are introduced through a hole in a bone, the locking member is expanded, thereby engaging the distal or far surface of the bone. The capturing assembly is introduced over the cable until the raised portion engages the proximal or near surface of the bone. Tension is applied to the cable, and the annular-shaped member is directed into the sleeve, thereby contracting the contractible passage and securing the cable therein.
