A vacuum cleaner includes a surface cleaning head, a pivot assembly pivotally coupled to the surface cleaning head, a cleaning wand removably coupled to the pivot assembly, and a canister assembly removably coupled to the pivot assembly. The canister assembly includes a first electrical connector connected to a power source, a dirt separation unit, and a suction motor electrically connected to the power source and in fluid communication with a dirty air inlet of the cleaning head, the cleaning wand, and the dirt separation unit. The vacuum cleaner also includes a second electrical connector on the pivot assembly. The vacuum cleaner is operable in an upright configuration and in a portable configuration. The cleaning wand is removable from the pivot assembly when the vacuum cleaner is in the upright configuration and when the vacuum cleaner is in the portable configuration.

A handheld vacuum cleaner including an inlet, an outlet, and a dust cup having an aperture. The dust cup is in fluid communication with the inlet and the outlet and is configured to retain debris collected by the handheld vacuum cleaner. A fan is configured to draw air through the inlet and the dust cup and to discharge air through the outlet. A door is adjacent to the dust cup and includes the inlet. The door is movable between an open position to allow a user to empty the debris collected within the dust cup through the aperture of the dust cup and a closed position to inhibit debris from being emptied through the aperture of the dust cup and to allow debris to be collected through the inlet and through the aperture of the dust cup. A biasing member configured to bias the door toward the open position.

The disclosure relates to a hand-held cleaning device including an elongated nozzle base having opposed first and second ends and a longitudinal axis. The second end is releasably connected to a hand-held suction wand of a vacuum source. The longitudinal axis of the elongated nozzle base is aligned with a longitudinal axis of the wand. A battery is located in the elongated nozzle base. A DC motor is located in the elongated nozzle base and is electrically connected to the battery. The motor has an axially rotated output drive shaft. A drive assembly is connected to the drive shaft for rotation therewith. A first brush is located at the first end of the elongated nozzle base and is connected to the drive assembly.

An upright vacuum cleaner includes a nozzle base having a main suction opening formed in an underside thereof. A housing is hingedly connected to the nozzle base. The housing includes a dirt separation chamber and a dirt receptacle for receiving dirt and dust separated by the dirt separation chamber. A conduit connects the nozzle base to the housing. A suction source is located in one of the housing and the nozzle base. The suction source is in fluid communication with the dirt separation chamber. A generally conically shaped filter extends into the dirt separation chamber along a longitudinal axis of the dirt separation chamber.

A vacuum cleaner has a suction nozzle, a housing connected to the suction nozzle and a suction fan and motor assembly mounted to the housing. A dirt collecting receptacle is mounted to the housing and is in communication with the suction nozzle and suction fan and motor assembly. A support plate is pivotally mounted to the housing and selectively holds a cleaning sheet for collecting dust and debris from a surface to be cleaned.
