A system for heating a battery comprising a first switch operably coupled with a power supply. An inductive element, which may be a part of filter, is in operable communication with the first switch and a second switch. The system includes a processor in communication with the switches to execute instructions to control the switches to controllably source current to and from the battery, wherein the sources current to and from the battery may be of arbitrary shapes tuned to harmonics optimized for heat generation.

Disclosed herein is a rack ear for mounting equipment in an equipment rack. The rack ear can include a member that extends outward from a computing device, when the rack ear is coupled to the computing device, to an end of the member. The member can include an elongate opening that extends through the member and defines an upper lobe and a lower lobe. The elongate opening can extend through the end of the member to define a slot opening. The elongate opening can be symmetrical about a plane through the horizontal midline of the member. The member can define a height that corresponds to a 1U, 2U, 3U, or 4U dimension of the computing device.

Rack ears and methods of using the same

Systems, circuits, and methods are disclosed herein for charging (recharging) one or more batteries of an electric vehicle through an on-board charge shaping (or tuning) circuit. The charge shaping circuit may alter the charge signal received from a charging station and/or a regenerative charge signal from the vehicle motor based on one or more charge conditions at the battery. The charge shaping circuit and/or a motor controller/inverter of the electric vehicle may include circuitry that is controllable to generate a shaped power signal in a similar manner as above, with or without the charge shaping circuit discussed above. In some implementations, one or more heat transfer systems may be included to transfer heat generated from the battery charging system to the battery.
