A device is configured to perform a method that detects a trigger marker for an action corresponding to a segment of a multimedia signal. A fingerprint is generated based on the segment of the multimedia signal at a trigger time point. The generated fingerprint is stored in a database and communicated to the device. During playback of the multimedia signal, fingerprints of segments of the multimedia signal are generated and matched against fingerprints in the database. When a match is found, one or more associated actions for the segment are retrieved by the device. The trigger time point may be determined as a time point near or at the segment of the multimedia signal with the matched fingerprint. In this way, trigger markers for actions may be enabled without modifying the multimedia signal.

Method and device for generating and detecting a fingerprint functioning as a trigger marker in a multimedia signal

A MIMO transmitter including a modulator, a demultiplexer arranged to divide the information into one or more demux streams for transmission over different ones of the channels, and a diversity splitter to derive one or more sub-streams of the same information. A decorrelator such as a scrambler decorrelates the sub-streams before or after the modulation. In use, the arrangement is configurable to vary a ratio of demultiplexing and of diversity splitting. This balances between the gains from diversity and spatial multiplexing, without needing major changes to the transmit and receive processing.

Multiple antenna transmission with variable diversity gain

The present invention relates to space-time or space-frequency coding in cellular systems. The same data is transmitted from different antennas with different coverage areas, corresponding to different cells. The different data streams have different parts of the space-time block codes applied. A mobile terminal can combine the different parts of the space-time block codes in different received signals. This provides better performance than the known techniques for single frequency networks. The invention can also be applied to antennas with different coverage areas from the same site, and different beams formed with antenna arrays.

Space-time/space-frequency coding for multi-site and multi-beam transmission

This invention relates to a device and a method of generating a first and a second fingerprint () usable for synchronisation of at least two signals () and corresponding method and device for synchronising two or more signals. A fingerprint pair is generated on the basis of a segment of a first signal e.g. an audio signal and of a segment of a second signal e.g. a video signal at each synchronisation time point. The generated fingerprint pair(s) are stored in a database () and communicated or distributed to a synchronisation device (). During synchronisation, fingerprint(s) of the audio signal and fingerprint(s) of the video signal to be synchronised are generated and matched against fingerprints in the database. When a match is found, the fingerprints also determine the synchronisation time point, which is used to synchronise the two signals. In this way, a simple, reliable and efficient way of synchronising at least two signals is obtained. Further, this is enabled without modifying either the first and second signal (or subsequent signals). The signals may even be distorted or changed to some extent while still enabling synchronisation.
