A system for simulating objects in a three dimensional virtual space, comprising a host computing node coupled to a network, padding spheres defined in the virtual space, one padding sphere fully encasing each cube in an octree; a plurality of objects, each object tracked for position in the virtual space. A visibility sphere associated with each object is provided, and at least one display, displaying objects in the virtual space. One of the objects becoming a target object, a search determines objects to be rendered in the display, identifying all padding spheres overlapped at least partially by the visibility sphere of the target object as candidate padding spheres, and identifying objects within or overlapping the candidate padding spheres, determining a visibility ratio for each object of maximum dimension of the object divided by distance from the target object, any object having a visibility to be rendered in the display.

Highly scalable cluster engine for hosting simulations of objects interacting within a space

Systems and devices for cooling and dispensing a beverage fluid are disclosed herein. One beverage dispensing system includes a beverage tower comprising a tower body, a shank, and a faucet. In some implementations, a coolant line is routed proximal to a beverage supply line through the tower body, through the shank, and into the faucet. In these and other implementations, the faucet includes a removable nozzle having a supplemental portion of the coolant line. In these and still other implementations, the faucet include a removable nozzle having a second coolant line. The coolant line and the second coolant line are configured to transport a coolant medium proximal to a beverage fluid in the beverage supply line to maintain or adjust the temperature of the beverage fluid. Many other features are described herein.

Cooled beverage dispensing systems and associated devices

The disclosed system provides an adaptive control system technique generally related to distributed energy resources (DERs) located in distribution circuits. More specifically, the system technique relates to a DER with both active and reactive generation capability. In an embodiment, the system measures a voltage phase angle and a current phase angle of distribution feeder circuit, and measures a voltage value output by a power converter. The system calculates an active power setpoint value and a reactive power setpoint value of the power converter based on the measured voltage value, and the measured voltage phase angle and current phase angle. The system then sets the active and reactive power setpoint values on the power converter. The disclosed system automatically adjusts the setpoints to real-time load characteristics of the distribution feeder circuit, increases distribution feeder hosting capacity, and enables DERs to integrate in distribution feeders more efficiently.

Adaptive voltage control of distributed energy resources

Systems and methods are described for a power aggregation system. In one implementation, a method includes establishing a communication connection with each of multiple electric resources connected to a power grid, receiving an energy generation signal from a power grid operator, and controlling a number of the electric resources being charged by the power grid as a function of the energy generation signal.

A connection in a power aggregation system for distributed electric resources is located by establishing, by way of a computer network, a communication between a mobile electric resource and a network-connected device, the mobile electric resource including one or more processors including a processor to control power flow, obtaining, with the one or more processors, a unique identifier associated with the network-connected device, transmitting, with the one or more processors, information regarding the mobile electric resource to a remote server, determining, with the one or more processors or the remote server, a location of the mobile electric resource from the unique identifier, determining at least one power connection location from the determined location, and charging the mobile electric resource with the determined at least one power connection location.

Connection locator in a power aggregation system for distributed electric resources

A highly scalable cluster of computing nodes simulates large numbers of objects interacting in a space defined by an octree of cubical elements. Each cube of the octree is enclosed within a corresponding padding sphere. Interacting objects are quickly identified by determining which of the padding spheres are candidate spheres that satisfy an interaction criterion, considering candidate objects located in the cubes that correspond to the candidate spheres, and determining which of the candidate objects meet the interaction criterion. The computing workload can be efficiently parallelized among nodes of the cluster by assigning the objects to the nodes in approximately equal numbers, each node being responsible for managing the objects assigned thereto. Inter-node data traffic can be minimized by reassigning frequently interacting objects to the same node. The cluster can be scaled simply by adding more nodes to the cluster, and redistributing the objects equally among the nodes.

Systems and methods for power aggregation are described. One method includes charging an electric resource or vehicle over a power connection to an electric network, obtaining, with a processor, a unique identifier of a device associated with the electric resource or vehicle at the power connection, and determining, with the processor, a location of the electric resource or vehicle from the unique identifier.

An energy storage system includes modular energy storage equipment that may be connected to an external system, such as a power grid. In at least one embodiment, the energy storage system includes a power transfer control system comprising a power transfer network and a processing module or controller. The power transfer network has a first interface coupleable to one or more energy storage units and a second interface coupleable to one or more power conversion units. One or more conductors in the power transfer network are selectively coupleable to the first interface and the second interface for transferring power between the energy storage units and the power conversion units based at least in part on information indicating a power or energy supply or demand of an external system or information indicating an amount of energy stored in the energy storage units. The energy storage system is scalable for different implementations.

In one implementation, a service establishes individual Internet connections to numerous electric resources intermittently connected to the power grid, such as electric vehicles. The Internet connection may be made over the same wire that connects the resource to the power grid. The service optimizes power flows to suit the needs of each resource and each resource owner, while aggregating flows across numerous resources to suit the needs of the power grid. The service can bring vast numbers of electric vehicle batteries online as a new, dynamically aggregated power resource for the power grid. Electric vehicle owners can participate in an electricity trading economy regardless of where they plug into the power grid.
