Some of the embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method comprising receiving an input image; based on the input image, generating a first output image, such that a contrast of the first output image is the same as a contrast of the input image; generating a first line in an x-y plane, wherein the first line represents a transfer function between (i) pixel values of pixels of the input image and (ii) pixel values of pixels of the first output image; receiving an input to modify the contrast of the input image; and based on receiving the input to modify the contrast of the input image, (i) rotating the first line to generate a second line in the x-y plane, and (ii) based on the second line, generating a second output image having a contrast that is different from the contrast of the input image.

Embodiments include systems and methods for performing image processing on a document based on a delayed determination of whether the document is monochrome or color. The image reproduction system includes image processing hardware configured to receive a plurality of pixels corresponding to a scan document, perform color processing on the plurality of pixels to produce color-processed scan data, perform monochrome processing on the plurality of pixels to produce monochrome-processed scan data, produce color distribution data for the plurality of pixels, and determine from the color distribution data that the scan document is one of a color document or a monochrome document. Based at least on determining that the scan document is one of a color document or a monochrome document, one of the color-processed scan data or the monochrome-processed scan data are discarded.

A scanner device includes a plurality of image sensor arrays and an image processing component. Each image sensor is configured to acquire a corresponding sequence of image slices, wherein the sequences of image slices are concurrently acquired, and wherein each sequence of image slices represents a contiguous partial scan of a target medium. The image processing component is configured to generate an image file representing the target medium based at least in part on the sequences of image slices.

Method and apparatus for using data compression techniques to increase a speed at which documents are scanned through a scanning device

In an embodiment, an apparatus includes a removable portion having a material and a chemical detection system coupled with the removable portion. The chemical detection system can obtain an amount of the material from the removable portion and determine whether the amount of material obtained from the removable portion includes a predetermined substance. In response to determining that the amount of the material obtained from the removable portion includes the predetermined substance, the chemical detection system can provide a first signal to initiate a first operation of the apparatus. Additionally, in response to determining that the amount of material obtained from the removable portion does not include the predetermined substance, the chemical detection system can generate a second signal to display an alert that indicates the material is not approved by at least one of a manufacturer of the apparatus or a supplier of the apparatus.

Method and apparatus to control operations of a device based on detection of a predetermined chemical substance

A scanner device includes an analog front-end component and an image processing component. The analog front-end is configured to receive, from a scan head, analog signals carrying analog image slices and provide compressed digital signals. The analog front-end component has a data compressor configured to compress digital image slices that correspond to the analog image slices digitized, wherein each analog image slice is comprised of a plurality of analog pixel values that represent a slice of the target medium. The image processing component has a data decompressor configured to (i) receive and decompress the compressed digital signals into digital signals, and (ii) generate an image file of a target medium based at least in part on the digital signals.
