A refrigeration system includes a first cooling system having a refrigerant in thermal communication with a heat exchanger device to provide a first cooling source. A second cooling system has a coolant in thermal communication with the heat exchanger device and a refrigeration device is configured to receive the coolant. A third cooling system is configured to provide a second cooling source to the coolant when the first cooling source is unavailable, so that a pressure of the coolant does not exceed a predetermined level when the first cooling source is unavailable.

Refrigeration system

A refrigeration system for objects is disclosed. The system includes a refrigeration device and a defrost system. The refrigeration device provides a case or container defining a space for the objects, a first heat exchanger associated with the container for cooling a fluid communicating with the space to cool the objects and a second heat exchanger to receive a heat supply from an air source for warming the fluid. A system for cooling articles is also disclosed. The system includes a space configured to contain the articles, a first element to provide cooling of the articles within the space, a first coolant source to refrigerate the space by cooling the first element in a first state, and a second coolant source to elevate a temperature of the first element in a second state.

A system for refrigeration of products includes a case having a compartment defining a space configured to receive the products. A first heat exchanger is configured to cool a fluid communicating with the space to cool the objects. A second heat exchanger is configured to receive a heat supply from an air source to warm the fluid. At least one coolant supply line and at least one coolant discharge line are configured to direct the fluid in communication with the space.

Service case

A temperature controlled service case for storage and display of chilled or frozen products, including at least one compartment for product storage, at least one access opening providing entrance to the compartment, at least one shelf within the compartment for holding product, and refrigeration operatively associated with the compartment for maintaining a selected temperature therein. The refrigeration includes at least one cooling coil above the shelf with a cooling medium flowing therethrough, and cooling within the shelf with a cooling medium flowing therethrough. Coolant supply is also provided for supplying cooling medium to the cooling coil and shelf with separate coolant supply and discharge lines from the coolant supply to the cooling coil and shelf. In accordance with a further embodiment, the shelf is divided into separate sections. In accordance with a still further embodiment, means are provided to warm the coolant for at least one of said cooling coil and shelf.

A non-compression cascade refrigeration system,for refrigerating a closed refrigerated space includes a cascade condenser,in heat exchange relationship with a primary evaporator,, a cascade evaporator,positioned in the refrigerated space,and a liquid and vapor separator,. A first coolant delivery conduit,delivers liquid coolant from the cascade condenser,to the separator,which then provides the coolant through a second coolant delivery conduit,to the cascade evaporator,for cooling the refrigerated space,. A first coolant return conduit,returns the coolant from the cascade evaporator,to the separator,where the return coolant is separated into liquid and gaseous coolant, such that the liquid coolant is directed to the second delivery conduit,for reuse in the cascade evaporator,and the gaseous coolant is directed to a second coolant return conduit,and returned to the cascade condenser

Non-compression cascade refrigeration system for closed refrigerated spaces

A warm liquid defrost refrigeration system (,) comprising a primary refrigeration loop (,) including a compressor (,), a condenser (,), an expansion device (,), and a first side of a chiller (,), and a secondary refrigeration loop (,) including a pump (,), a refrigerated space heat exchanger (,), and a second side of the chiller. The refrigeration system further includes a defrost heat exchanger (,) having a hot side and a cold side. The hot side of the defrost heat exchanger is connected to the primary refrigeration loop between the condenser and the expansion device such that liquid refrigerant can flow from the condenser through the hot side of the defrost heat exchanger. The cold side of the defrost heat exchanger is connected to the secondary refrigeration loop at a point downstream of the pump such that coolant can be selectively transported from the pump through the cold side of the defrost heat exchanger. The cold side of said defrost heat exchanger is also connected to the refrigerated space heat exchanger such that it can be selectively used to transport the heated coolant to the refrigerated space heat exchanger for defrost.

Refrigeration system using liquid-to-liquid heat transfer for warm liquid defrost

A crossover warm liquid defrost refrigeration system (10) having a medium temperature side (12) for cooling refrigerated goods and a low temperature side (14) for cooling frozen goods. The medium temperature side has a primary refrigeration loop (16) and a secondary refrigeration loop (18). The low temperature side also has a primary refrigeration loop (46) and a secondary refrigeration loop (48). Further included in the refrigeration system is a low temperature defrost heat exchanger (28) that is connected to the primary refrigeration loop of the medium temperature side and the secondary refrigeration loop of the low temperature side such that coolant from the low temperature side secondary refrigeration loop can be heated by the refrigerant of the medium temperature side, and then transported to the low temperature side refrigerated space heat exchanger (64) to melt any frost formed thereon. Typically, the system further includes a medium temperature defrost heat exchanger (58) that is connected to the primary refrigeration loop of the low temperature side and the secondary refrigeration loop of the medium temperature side such that coolant from the medium temperature side secondary refrigeration loop can be heated by the refrigerant of the low temperature side for defrosting the medium temperature refrigerated space heat exchanger (34).
