A method and system of ID based content delivery where the selection and transmission of content is facilitated with use of version IDs associated with each available version of each particular piece of content. A relationship may be generated between the available versions in the version IDs to facilitate determining the version ID associated with a version desired for rendering at a particular type of terminal.

In an embodiment, a network-based media processing system includes a media control plane implementing a first network protocol. The media control plane includes a media origin server. The system further includes a network control plane implementing a second network protocol. The network control plane includes a network platform orchestrator, a network orchestration client, a network resource element, and a plurality of media processing elements. A system further includes a media data plane implementing a third network protocol. The media data plane includes a plurality of media resources. The system further includes a media interchange format configured to provide a unified data format for delivering media according to a format requested from a client device. The first network protocol is different from the second network protocol.

Systems and methods for network-based media processing

A method of facilitating modified content play such that modification actions may be implemented during play of original content form. The modification actions may be specified by users to modify the original content form. The modification may be disseminated to subscribers or other users desiring similar content modifications. The method may be useful in social networking systems to allow social members to share commentary and otherwise modify original content forms to include their personal reflections.

Method of modifying play of an original content form

Management of graphical overlays for use in stereoscopic video where the graphical overlay is positioned relative to depths associated with objects showing in the video. A disparity offset processor may be configured to facilitate generating overlay mapping information as a function of object depth maps in order to facilitate positioning one or move graphical overlays relative to corresponding objects.

Method and system for generation of captions over stereoscopic 3D images

A method and system for automated run-time adjustment that includes an ability to start or end a scheduled recording at an earlier or later period of time. The adjustment may allow a program to be recorded in its entirety regardless of whether the program is starting late or running long. The recording period adjustments performed in accordance with the contemplated run-time adjustment may be made with reliance on data transmitted with the program in order to optionally insure the adjustment are made with respect to the actual content and not some pre-determined or arbitrary recording extension inputted by a user.

Automated run-time adjustment

A system configured to support video formatting without a priori knowledge of video formatting requirements of a display device. The system relies on video information transmitted from the display device to a source device to facilitate determining the video formatting requirements of the display device. The system can be used within any television network, gaming network, and content sourcing network where it may be advantageous to deploy a source device that can support formatting requirements for a plurality of different display types.

Adaptive HDMI formatting system for 3D video transmission

A method performed by one or more computing devices. The method includes identifying first and second portions of a digital video signal. First and second values of a plurality of quality metrics are determined for the first and second portions, respectively. The first and second values of the metrics are used to determine first and second values, respectively, of a plurality of picture quality parameters such that a signal transmitted using either the first or second values of the parameters would require at most a maximum output bitrate. The first values of the parameters may differ from the second values of the parameters. The first and second portions are adjusted using the first and second values, respectively, of the parameters. The first and second adjusted portions are transmitted in a continuous signal. Optionally, the first and second adjusted portions are compressed before they are transmitted.

Dynamic picture quality control

A signal identification process as contemplated to facilitate output of signaling based at least in part on metadata transmitted with the signaling. The contemplated processing may include facilitating output of the content according to one of a plurality of output modes depending on the metadata specifying values for a dynamic floating window (DFW) field and a 2K format conversion preference field.

Signal identification for downstream processing

A method and system is disclosed for generating a caption relative to a three-dimensional (3D) image. The caption may be generated such that it appears relative to a screen plane of an output device used to render the 3D image. The caption may be added to left and right viewpoint images included within images used by the output device to render the 3D image as a function of the positioning of the caption relative to the screen plane.

A method and system for supporting media services on devices lacking capabilities to execute reverse transmission communicates necessary to request and/or locate the services. The method and system may be suitable for use with switched broadcast television (SBT) system having unidirectional digital cable products (UDCPs) which are unable to execute reverse transmission communicates necessary to support SBT.
