A method and apparatus for delivering engineering data to a portable device for use in performing an operation. Engineering data for each part in a set of parts is stored in a file system on the portable device. A set of entries, each entry including a part identifier and a target locator for a part, is created for the set of parts to form a table. An initial locator constructed by a visualization tool is matched to a target locator in the table for a selected part. The target locator identifies a physical location in the file system of requested engineering data for the selected part. A local server on the portable device retrieves the requested engineering data based on the target locator. The local server serves the requested engineering data to a browser, which displays the requested engineering data for use in performing the operation on the selected part.

Remote data delivery system

A method and apparatus for managing a display of an assembly model. The assembly model is displayed in an initial state within a first display area in a graphical user interface. A first display state of an item of the assembly model is changed to a second display state within the first display area in response to receiving a first type of input. The second display state of the item of the assembly model is changed to a third display state within the first display area in response to receiving a second type of input. An entry is added to an assembly hierarchy within a second display area in the graphical user interface in response to the second display state of the item changing to the third display state.

Management of a display of an assembly model

A method and apparatus for displaying a product. The three-dimensional model includes objects and a spatial relationship of the objects to each other. A group of the objects in the three-dimensional model is identified based on a policy applied to a user input selecting a portion of the product and assigns a value to a group of attributes associated with the group of the objects. The value assigned to the group of the attributes indicates that the group of the objects is to be displayed on the display system. Other objects in the objects having the attributes without the value are not displayed. The attributes associated with the objects are outputted in which the group of the objects is displayed in three dimensions on the display system using the attributes associated with the objects, enabling a desired level of performance in visualizing the three-dimensional model of the product.

A method and apparatus for identifying a condition of assembly of an aircraft. A current state of assembly of the aircraft is identified. Parts present in the aircraft for the current state of assembly of the aircraft are identified. The parts present in the aircraft for the current state of assembly of the aircraft are displayed in a graphical user interface on a display device.

Condition of assembly visualization system based on build cycles

Methods and systems for providing a synchronous display to a plurality of remote users are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method includes providing a synchronous display from a host to a plurality of remote users comprising rendering a frame on the host, determining a communication characteristic between each of the plurality of remote users and the host, modifying a frame display characteristic for at least one of the plurality of remote users based on one or more of the communication characteristics, and transmitting the frame to two or more of the plurality of remote users to provide substantially synchronous display of the frame to the two or more of the plurality of remote users, wherein transmitting includes transmitting to the at least one of the plurality of remote users based on the modified frame display characteristic.

Methods and systems for providing a synchronous display to a plurality of remote users

A system and method for updating a display unit remotely located from a computing system are described. The method includes copying display information from a video buffer of a computing device executing an application to generate a display update, calculating a size of the display update, and determining an amount of available bandwidth of a network connecting the computing device and the display unit. The method also includes calculating a time period required to communicate the display update from the computing device to the display unit, transmitting the display update to the display; and repeating the method after the time period has elapsed.

Method and apparatus for updating a graphical display in a distributed processing environment

In one embodiment, a system for generating stereo images includes a front display adapted to project a polarized first image along a viewing axis, a back display adapted to project a polarized second image along the viewing axis and through the front display, and a controller coupled to at least the front display and adapted to oscillate image projection between the front display and back display. The system in this embodiment further includes a first lens portion and a second lens portion, the first lens portion being polarized to the same state as the front display and the second lens portion being polarized to the same state as the back display.
