A sole structure for an article of footwear may include a sole component having a bottom wall and a peripheral wall extending upward from the bottom wall and partially surrounding a space above the bottom wall. The sole structure may have a midsole that includes a foam core nested in the space. The peripheral wall of the sole component may be disposed outward of a side surface of the foam core. The sole component may be attached to a first portion of the side surface and detached from a second portion of the side surface. The second portion of the side surface may be disposed between the first portion and the bottom wall.

An article of footwear includes an outsole that has a bottom portion and a medial arch portion extending upward from the bottom portion. The medial arch portion of the outsole has a base and a plurality of protrusions extending outward from the base. The plurality of protrusions are arranged in vertical alignments. In each one of the vertical alignments, at least one protrusion of the plurality of protrusions is closer to the bottom portion and has a larger effective diameter than at least one other protrusion of the plurality of protrusions that is further from the bottom portion.

Sole structures for articles of footwear include sipes that define discrete hexagonally-shaped sole elements at the ground-engaging or ground-facing surface. At least some of the arch-supporting hexagonally shaped sole elements may be elongated in one direction as compared to at least some of the corresponding hexagonally shaped sole elements in the heel and/or forefoot support areas. Additionally or alternatively, the sole structure may include a perimeter rim and/or side wall integrally formed with and extending upward from a foot-supporting surface at least at a rear heel area of the sole structure. This perimeter rim and/or side wall forms a rear heel pocket that engages at least a portion of the heel area of the upper (e.g., the rear heel area) with an interior surface of the perimeter rim and/or side wall.
