Microbiocidal picolinamide derivatives

A flying craft (14) has a dish shaped body (18, 20, 21) with a convex upper surface (18) to provide lift. Engine means (1) in the form of a jet or rocket engine is housed in the body at the rear, while a duct (15) extends through the body from an air opening (15A) at the front of the craft (14) so as to direct air to the engine means (1) for example to serve as cooling and/or combustion air for the engine means. Additional thruster jets (16A, 16B) can be located on the bottom of the body for directional control. In a further embodiment (FIG. 12), an electric motor driven fan (37) is located in the duct (15) to form a ducted fan propulsion and unit for forward, slightly descending, movement of the craft (14A), while a more powerful jet or rocket engine (35) is located vertically in the craft to effect vertical ascent of the craft to an elevation where forward motion by the ducted fan propulsion unit can commence. A turbine fan driven alternator (27) can also be located in the ducting (15). A suitable rocket engine is also described (FIGS. 1 and 6).

Flying craft and a thruster engine suitable for use in such a craft

A fan assembly (7) is provided for driving an electricity generator, especially for use in the production of electrical power in an electrical vehicle, wherein the fan assembly (7) functions by virtue of an air flow created by forward motion of the vehicle, the fan assembly (7) comprising two adjacent fan blade sets (14A, 14B) mounted on respective co-axially arranged hubs (13), the blades of the sets (14A, 14B) being oppositely set so that the blades (14A, 14B) and their hubs (13) rotate in contra-directions when subject to impingement by an air flow. An electricity generator (15, 15A) is also provided for use with the above fan assembly (7), the generator comprising an excitable magnetic field producing component (armature) 25 (43) and an induction electric power producing component 15 (42) which are mounted for separate rotation, especially in contra-directions by the above fan assembly (7). The generator can be located in one of the fan hubs (13).

Electrical power generating apparatus and an electrical vehicle

An electrical vehicle, especially a car, comprises bodywork (2) with ground engaging wheels (3, 4) for vehicle motion over the ground, the bodywork (2) carrying an electric motor (5) to drive the vehicle via certain of the wheels (3, 4) and batteries (6A, 6B) to power the electric motor (5). The invention provides additional energy generation means comprising a tunnel (8) extending through the bodywork (2) with a turbine fan/alternator set (7) located in the tunnel at the rear of the vehicle whereby electrical energy is generated by the set (7) during vehicle motion to charge the batteries thereby improving the performance of the vehicle, especially with regard to range. The inlet (8A) to the tunnel, of bell-mouth form, at the vehicle front constitutes the major portion of the vehicles frontal area. A special alternator (15) is provided, and the vehicle can also include solar cell means (32) for battery charging.

Electrical vehicle

An hybrid laser source has a ring structure including the optical path in a semiconductor amplifier chip (1) and optical fibres (2, 3 and 4). The fibre (2) is rare-earth doped and provides an additional gain medium in the ring, the chip providing its own gain medium. The two gain media are interactive and when the chip input current is modulated the source produces relatively high peak power ultrashort pulses (FIG. 1).
