A cable includes a cable core including a central strength member. A plurality of buffer tubes, with each buffer tube including a plurality of optical fibers therein, and a plurality of filler rods are stranded about the central strength member. A characterizing feature is that a diameter of each of the plurality of filler rods is larger than a diameter of each of the plurality of buffer tubes. A jacket surrounds the cable core.

Mount assemblies that include clamps that can clamp directly to external threads of a respective adjuster bolt to lock the adjuster bolt in a desired orientation and/or position and provide for triangulated adjustment allowing for increased alignment precision. A panel array antenna comprises an input layer including a waveguide network coupling an input feed on a first side thereof to a plurality of primary coupling cavities on a second side thereof, and an output layer on the second side of the input layer. The output layer includes an array of horn radiators, respective horn radiator inlet ports in communication with the horn radiators, and respective slot-shaped output ports in communication with the respective horn radiator inlet ports to couple the horn radiators to the primary coupling cavities. The horn radiators, the respective horn radiator inlet ports, and the respective slot-shaped output ports are integrated in a monolithic layer, which is configured to provide respective output signals from the horn radiators having a polarization orientation that is rotated by a desired polarization rotation angle relative to respective input signals received at the respective slot-shaped output ports coupled thereto.

A method of forming a flat panel array antenna includes the steps of: (a) providing a digitized design for a flat panel array, the flat panel array comprising a plurality of geometric features that vary in area along a thickness dimension of the flat panel array; (b) subdividing the digitized design into a plurality of thin strata stacked in the thickness dimension; (c) forming a thin layer of material corresponding to one of the thin strata; (d) fixing the thin layer of material; and (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) to form a flat panel array.

A flat panel antenna is provided. The flat panel antenna may include a plurality of flat panel arrays (FPAs) that are arranged adjacent one another. Ones of the plurality of FPAs are configured to radiate in a plurality of different respective frequency bands and/or at different respective polarizations. The flat panel antenna includes an enclosure that defines an internal cavity that includes the plurality of FPAs.

An antenna structure includes a radiator element and an enclosure housing the radiator element therein. The enclosure includes a front face that is adjacent a surface of the radiator element and sidewall surfaces that house the radiator element therebetween. The front face of the enclosure has an internal surface that is bounded by the sidewall surfaces and an external surface that is opposite the internal surface. The surface of the radiator element is positioned closer to the external surface than the internal surface of the front face of the enclosure.

Antenna radome-enclosures and related antenna structures

A flat drop cable has notches or other structures for enhancing the stripability of the jacket from a core of the flat drop cable. The notches can have an angled configuration with surfaces that converge as the notches extend into the jacket. Inner edges, or rounded valleys, at the bottoms of the notches can be positioned along a tear path that intersects the core of the flat drop cable at an angle relative to a major axis of the flat drop cable. For example, the notches can be offset from a minor axis of the flat drop cable a sufficient distance such that the notches are positioned outside a central boundary region that extends tangent to sides of the core and parallel to a minor axis of the flat drop cable. The shoulders of the notches, where the notches transition to an outer jacket wall, may also include a radius of curvature.

Antenna radome enclosure and a radome

In one embodiment, a radome-reflector assembly for, e.g., a microwave antenna, has (i) two semi-circular rims that receive the peripheries of the radome and the reflector and (ii) fixed and adjustable clamps that secure the ends of the rims together. The rims are designed with slanted inner surfaces that engage the periphery of the reflector, such that, when the adjustable clamp is tightened circumferentially, the periphery of the reflector is forced laterally to abut other rim structure to form a metal-to-metal RF seal between the reflector and the rims. Certain assemblies with low profiles and low circumferential forces can be assembled without special tooling using plastic clamps and still achieve good RF seals.

In certain embodiments, a linear adjustment mechanism includes an adjustment plate, an adjustment nut, and a holding plate. The adjustment plate has an exterior-threaded section that engages with the adjustment nut, a mounting-bolt opening, and a clamping-bolt slot. The holding plate has a horizontal section having a clamping-bolt opening, a vertical section connected to the horizontal section, and an adjustment-nut opening. With (i) the adjustment nut engaged with the adjustment-nut opening and the exterior-threaded section of the adjustment plate and (ii) the clamping bolt inserted within (a) the clamping-bolt slot of the adjustment plate and (b) the clamping-bolt opening of the holding plate, (1) rotation of the adjustment nut on the exterior-threaded section of the adjustment adjusts the linear position of the adjustment plate relative to the holding plate and (2) rotation of the clamping bolt secures the linear position of the adjustment plate relative to the holding plate.

Fiber optic cable

A hybrid cable is provided that transmits both electrical power and optical signals. The hybrid cable has a transverse cross-sectional shape with multiple lobes and a generally circular outer boundary. At least some of the lobes surround and insulate the electrical conductors. The lobes surrounding the electrical conductors can be torn away from the remainder of the cable while continuing to insulate the electrical conductors.
