A gasifier may include a chamber wall defining a gasification chamber configured to allow gasification of feedstock material. The gasifier may also include an ash grate disposed in the gasification chamber. The gasifier may further include a rotary crusher disposed in the gasification chamber above the ash grate. The rotary crusher may include at least one crushing element. The rotary crusher may be configured to break apart, between the at least one crushing element and an opposing surface, the feedstock material responsive to rotation of the rotary crusher.

Gasifier

A separator for separating a multiphase mixture comprising a pressure vessel supported for rotation within a casing containing a gas which may be held at an elevated temperature or pressure. A plurality of vanes is disposed within the pressure vessel. The pressure vessel has an inlet, a first phase outlet and a plurality of second phase outlets disposed radially outwardly of the first phase outlet with respect to a separator axis. A regulator is provided in the form of pressure-activated nozzles to regulate flow through the second phase outlets. In use, a mixture of solids and liquid is fed into the pressure vessel and the pressure vessel is spun within the gas causing solids to accumulate in the vicinity of the second phase outlets. The pressure-activated nozzles are repeatedly opened and closed to expel the accumulated solids.

Separator for separating a multiphase mixture

A water treatment system, for example for treating grey water from domestic appliances comprises a water treatment device containing a filter media through which the water passes to remove particulates and bio-matter. The device has a lid provided with a spraying device. The spraying device may, for example, receive treated water along a line, possibly with the addition of an anti-foaming agent. Operating of the spraying device thus serves to collapse any foam generated within the water treatment device. Filter media can be cleaned periodically in a cyclone, after being drawn up through a pipe by means of a jet pump, receiving treated water along a line. Treated water is stored in a storage tank for subsequent use.

Water treatment device

A separator device comprises a cylindrical separation chamber within which a motor-driven rotor is situated. The rotor has vanes. In operation, an inflowing mixture enters through an inlet and is subjected to centrifugal force imposed by the rotation of the rotor. A lighter liquid fraction leaves through an annular outlet, and a heavier liquid fraction leaves through an annular outlet. Solids pass through a screen to a region where rotational flow is reduced or absent. The solids in the region are fluidized by liquid passing through the screen, and are extracted from outlets. Control means is provided to control operation of the device in response to changes in the incoming mixture.

Separation device

A functional fluid for the removal of contaminates such as but not limited to, acid causing components in gas, sulfur components and carbon oxides from fluid streams, and removal and treatment of NO& SOfrom post combustion emissions. Also described is the manufacturing process to produce the functional fluid both in a batch atmospheric process system as well as a closed system capable of operating at above or below atmospheric conditions.

Functional fluid and a process for the preparation of the functional fluid

A contactor for reacting a flow of gas with a liquid, comprises a vessel, a first chamber in the vessel and a second chamber in the vessel, the first and second chambers being linked only by a porous wall, and means for directing ultrasonic noise into at least one of the first and second chambers.

Gas-liquid contactor

A separator for separating or partially separating oil, water, gas and solids from hydrocarbon production well fluids comprises a vessel and a cyclone contained within the vessel. An inlet passage passes through a wall of the vessel and into the cyclone, the inlet passage having means for causing the flow to rotate within the cyclone. A first outlet passage for an oil rich phase extends from a position within the cyclone and substantially on a central axis of the cyclone; a second outlet passage for a water phase extends from a base of the vessel; and a third outlet passage for the solids extends from a lower end of the cyclone.

Separator to separate a liquid/liquid/gas/solid mixture

Apparatus for inhibiting fines carryover in the form of a settlement tank comprising: a filter which divides the tank into upper and lower portions; a fluid inlet in the lower portion for admitting into the tank a fluid with entrained solids; and a fluid outlet in the upper portion through which filtered fluid can leave the tank. The filter comprises filter media supported on a permeable wall, the wall including a filter media outlet which is normally closed, and opening means for opening the filter media outlet to allow the filter media to discharge into the lower portion of the tank. The invention also relates to a method of refilling the filter with filter media.

Apparatus for inhibiting fines carryover

A radial or crossflow media filter comprising a housing such as a vessel or tank (), the housing containing filter media (), a contaminated flow inlet () and a discharge outlet (), the inlet comprising a manifold () situated within the housing, the manifold () having flow outlets () which are directed laterally, away from the discharge outlet (). The flow inlet may comprise a substantially vertically aligned elongate tubular manifold () with a plurality of flow distribution holes or slots disposed along its length. Furthermore, the discharge outlet () may be accessed through a chamber within the housing which contains a second filter media () which is of larger average particle size than the first filter media ().

Filtration apparatus

A fluidizing apparatus comprises a vessel having an inlet, a plurality of outlets and a nozzle, through which a pressurized fluid can be fed into the vessel. The outlets are spaced at different heights from a base of the vessel and are controlled by valves enabling fluidized solids to be removed in layers from the vessel. In a further embodiment, a single outlet is raised or lowered to a desired position in the vessel.

Fluidizing apparatus

Apparatus for transferring settled or suspended solids from an open vessel into a closed vessel, the apparatus comprising a suction line which extends from the closed vessel to the open vessel via drive means, such as a pump or compressor, and a solids feed line which extends from a solids outlet in the open vessel to a solids inlet in the closed vessel, a fluidising apparatus being provided to fluidise the solids in the open vessel.

Apparatus for transferring settled or suspended solids from an open vessel into a closed vessel

A cyclone separator () includes a housing (), in which a cyclone assembly () is contained. The housing () has an inflow chamber (), an overflow chamber () and a discharge chamber (). The cyclone assembly () has an inner cyclone liner () positioned concentrically within a cyclone chamber (). A displacement means () is provided for displacing the inner cyclone liner () axially from an operative position in the cyclone chamber () to an inoperative position in the overflow chamber () of the housing (). The cyclone chamber () has a larger internal diameter than the inner cyclone liner (), therefore, when the inner cyclone liner is moved to the inoperative position, the flowrate through the cyclone assembly is increased.

Cyclone assembly and method for increasing or decreasing flow capacity of a cyclone separator in use

A method and apparatus for providing a preliminary separation of production fluid. A vessel ( ) has an annular inlet ( ) opening upwardly at the bottom of the vessel. The inlet has means ( ) for causing the mixture to swirl to generate a vortex. A first outlet ( ) for an oil continuous flow is provided at the center of the annular inlet. A second outlet ( ) for a water continuous phase is provided towards the bottom of the vessel and spaced from the first outlet. The oil and water are separated under centrifugal forces caused by the swirl and the oil is drawn down through the center of the vortex for discharge through the first outlet ( ).
