A computer detects a crash of a computer program, the crash being caused by a faulting instruction. The computer determines, within concrete stack frame(s) of the computer program, memory position(s) and extent(s) of input. The computer maps, using the memory position(s) and the extent(s), inferred stack frame(s) onto concrete stack frame(s), the inferred stack frame(s) indicating positions of variables used in the computer program. The computer identifies, based on mapping the inferred stack frame(s) onto the concrete stack frame(s), at least one variable from among the variables that is within a stack overflow memory and within a dataflow path to the faulting instruction, wherein the dataflow path to the faulting instruction indicates the variables used in the computer program that are accessed by or contribute to the faulting instruction. The computer determines whether the stack overflow contributed to the crash of the computer program.

Methods, systems, and computer-readable storage medium including a computer program product for defending against cyber-attacks are provided. One method includes receiving, by a processor, program code and automatically generating a chronomorphic binary for the program code. The method further includes storing the chronomorphic binary in an executable memory space and diversifying the executable memory space for the chronomorphic binary during runtime of the program code. A system includes memory configured for storing a defense module and a processor connected to the memory. The processor, when executing the defense module, is configured for performing the above-referenced method. One computer program product includes computer code for performing the above-referenced method.

Methods and systems for defending against cyber-attacks

A system and method analyzes queries in a computer network, and identifies problem-causing queries that could be harmful to the system. If a query does not match any queries in a database, the query is transmitted to its destination. If a query matches a query in the database, that query is blocked from transmission to the destination. If a query is transmitted to its destination, and it is later determined that query caused a problem on that destination, that query is added to the database of queries. In one embodiment, a query that does not cause any problems is written to a pool of current up-to-date backup databases that may be used if the main system goes down. In another embodiment, the system tests variants of a query that caused a problem at the destination to attempt to discover other queries that could cause a problem.

In an embodiment, a computer-based service security system receives a communication such as a query. The system processes that query in a server, which may be referred to as a lead server, and creates a plurality of copies of that lead server. The query is transferred to the plurality of copies of the lead server when the query did not cause a problem in the lead server. The query is transferred to a learning server when the query caused a problem in the lead server. The lead server is replaced by one of the copies of the lead server when the query caused a problem on the lead server.

System and method for computer service security

Methods and apparatus for performing formal verification of a system defined by a set of automata are useful in facilitating computing efficiencies during the verification of an incremental system design. The various embodiments permit computing efficiencies by saving information generated during a verification of the system for use in subsequent verification runs. The saved information includes calculation results pertaining to instances or elements of the system that do not require modification for the next subsequent verification.
