A vehicle transmission comprising a multi-ratio gearbox having a gearbox input shaft and a gearbox output shaft, the gearbox being operable to provide a driving connection between the gearbox input shaft and the gearbox output shaft at a selected one of a plurality of gear ratios, a torque converter having a torque converter input for connection to an engine, and a torque converter output driveably connected to the torque converter input by fluid coupling within the torque converter, a first driving connection between the torque converter output and the gearbox input shaft, a second driving connection between the torque converter input and the gearbox input shaft, and a selection means to select one of the first driving connection and the second driving connection.

Vehicle transmission

A transmission for a vehicle which includes a ground engaging structure driven from an output member of the transmission is disclosed, the transmission including a first input member connected to a prime mover, and a second input member drivable by the operation of a hydraulic drive motor, and the transmission being operable to transmit drive from the first input member to the output member in mechanical drive mode, and from the second input member to the output member in hydrostatic drive mode, the first input member providing a drive input from the prime mover to a mechanical drive train which includes a gear ratio selection apparatus, and for mechanical drive mode, the gear ratio selection apparatus providing for one of a plurality of alternative gear ratios to be selected by the engagement and/or disengagement of at least one power-shift clutch device, and the second input member being connected via a drive path to the output member, and there being a power-shift clutch device between the hydraulic drive motor and the second input member which is operative when the transmission is in hydrostatic drive mode, to transmit drive established by the operation of the hydraulic drive motor to the second input member.

Hybrid transmission

A vehicle of the type described wherein the torque converter has an input shaft adapted to be driven by the engine and connected to an impeller and an output shaft adapted to drive the ground engaging device and connected to a turbine, torque being transmitted between the impeller and the turbine hydro-kinetically by fluid and a reactor member in the fluid path and there being a lock up clutch which, when in an operative condition, connects the torque converter for direct drive without torque conversion between the input shaft and the output shaft and which, when in an inoperative condition, permits drive through the torque converter with torque conversion.
