One embodiment is directed to a method comprising obtaining, using a portable device, identifier information about one or more identifiers associated with one or more of a rack and equipment installed in the rack and displaying on the portable device a picture of the rack captured and displaying on the portable device an overlay that includes markings that define a perimeter of the rack and a plurality of equipment positions within the rack. The method further comprises receiving, by the portable device, an alignment of the overlay on the picture of the rack and the equipment positions and receiving location information for the rack. The method further comprises storing the picture of the rack, the alignment of the overlay on the picture of the rack, the identifier location, and the location information by a management application. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Method of capturing information about a rack and equipment installed therein

A secured cable system for protecting an inner cable is disclosed. The secured cable system includes a cable security system having a first security tape including a tape portion upon which a plurality of detection lines are arranged. The security system may also include a detection box in electrical or optical communication with each of the detection lines in the first security tape. In one embodiment, the security tape is spiral wrapped about the inner cable in a first direction along a length of the inner cable, the security tape being overlapped upon itself at a predetermined overlap factor. The secured cable system may also include a second security tape including a tape portion upon which a plurality of detection lines are arranged in a pattern wherein the second security tape is wrapped about the first security tape in a second direction opposite the first direction.

A pluggable modular device is configured for removable connection to a patch panel. The pluggable modular device includes an electrical connector for mating with a corresponding electrical connector of the patch panel; and at least one of scanning electronics for scanning connection ports of the patch panel and guidance electronics for activating indicators of the patch panel.

One embodiment is directed to an apparatus comprising one or more front connectors, wherein each front connector comprises a respective interface configured to read a storage device associated with a connector that is adapted to be connected to the front connector. The apparatus further comprises one or more rear connection points and one or more switches.
