A technology is described for determining an intended movement from neuromuscular signals. An example method () includes receiving electromyography (EMG) data corresponding to single-ended channels of an electrode array (), where EMG signals are detected by electrodes comprising the single-ended channels of the electrode array and the EMG signals are converted to the EMG data. Determining differential channel pairs for the single-ended channels of the electrode array () and extracting feature data from the EMG data of the differential channel pairs (). Thereafter a feature data set is selected from the feature data of the differential channel pairs () and the feature data set is input to a decode model configured to correlate the feature data set to an intended movement (). Decode output is received from the decode model indicating the intended movement () and the decode output is provided to a device ().

Signal processing for decoding intended movements from electromyographic signals

The present invention uses a belt around the waist, elastic bands attached to the waist belt and an anchoring system to create simultaneous constant tension on the core and body movement systems during physical exercise in the three planes of motion (sagittal, transverse and frontal). The tension created causes perturbation (balance) challenges forcing the lower and upper body to work synergistically to overcome the load put on the entire muscular system. Since the tension is simultaneous, constant and multi-planar, it overloads the core and lower body movement systems ('Lumbo-Pelvic-Hip Complex'), separately challenging the transverse abdominus, internal obliques, pelvic floor, multifidus, and deep erector spinae group while the physical exercise is being performed. By achieving this, the present invention produces superior physiological results during physical exercise for athletic training, fitness maintenance, and physical therapy and rehabilitation, in a less costly and more time-efficient manner.

The invention includes an osseointegrated mount and electrical connector, suitable for providing neural control and sensory feedback for an advanced prosthetic limb. The device provides a channel in which a lead wire from the peripheral nerve interface can travel from the electrical connector down the side of the device or within the device to limit potential sites of infection to a single transcutaneous breach. The channel allows for a silicone barrier to be installed between the internal and external components.

A system and method for electrically shielding a physiological pathway from electrical noise is disclosed. The method includes the operation of implanting at least one signal microelectrode into a patient such that the signal microelectrode is proximate to the physiological pathway. An additional operation includes substantially enclosing the microelectrode and a section of the physiological pathway with an electrical shielding wrap. The electrical shielding wrap includes a plurality of holes that enable fluid communication of physiological fluids between an inside and outside of the wrap.

System and method for electrically shielding a microelectrode array in a physiological pathway from electrical noise

A microelectrode array system used to sense physiological signals and stimulate physiological tissue to form signals is disclosed. The array includes a dielectric substrate and a two dimensional array of signal microelectrodes substantially perpendicular to and integrated on the dielectric substrate. At least one reference microelectrode is located adjacent to and integrated with the signal microelectrodes on the dielectric substrate. The reference microelectrodes are positioned on the dielectric substrate relative to the signal microelectrodes to enable a reduced level of electrical noise to be detected between the reference microelectrodes and the recording microelectrodes.
