A method for identifying a cause of a machine operating anomaly including creating a reduced order model (ROMs) for a digital twin model of a selected machine type and feeding current data from a deployed machine into the ROM. The method can include comparing a current output from the selected ROM with a measured output from the current data and determining that an operating anomaly exists when the difference between the current output and the measured output exceeds a selected anomaly threshold. The cause of the operating anomaly can be identified by feeding the current data into a plurality of fault models, wherein each fault model includes a particular component failure, comparing a fault model output from each of the plurality of fault models with the measured output from the current data, selecting the fault model with the fault model output most closely matching the measured output, and displaying the identified component failure associated with the selected fault model as the cause of the operating anomaly.

A method for estimating damage of a component of an internal combustion engine includes receiving a fuel rate signal indicative of a fuel rate of the internal combustion engine and estimating a temperature value of the component of the internal combustion engine based on at least the received fuel rate signal. The method also includes estimating an incremental amount of damage of the component of the internal combustion engine based on the estimated temperature value of the component of the internal combustion engine, updating a cumulative amount of damage of the component of the internal combustion engine based on the estimated incremental amount of damage, and outputting a notification based on at least the cumulative amount of damage of the component of the internal combustion engine.

The failure detection device may detect a presence of a possible issue with the operations of the set of parts based on a second set of conditions, associated with the binary values and the initial values, being satisfied during a time period. The failure detection device may perform, after detecting the presence of the possible issue, a set of actions related to addressing the possible issue.

The control system can provide compressed air from a compressed air source to a turbocharger to boost speed of a turbine of the turbocharger, based on determined desired operating characteristics associated with upstream or downstream operation of the engine relative to the turbocharger. The control system can receive data corresponding to actual operating characteristics associated with the upstream or downstream operation of the engine relative to the turbocharger, compare the desired operating characteristics with the data corresponding to actual operating characteristics, and control the air assist from the compressed air source based on the comparison.

The engine may also have an intake manifold configured to deliver air for combustion to the cylinder and an exhaust manifold configured to discharge exhaust from the cylinder. The natural gas engine system may have a generator coupled to the engine. The generator may be configured to generate electrical power for an electrical load. The natural gas engine system may have a fuel source configured to supply natural gas for combustion in the engine, and an air tank in fluid communication with the intake manifold and the exhaust manifold. Further, the natural gas engine system may have a controller. The controller may be configured to direct a first amount of air from the air tank to the exhaust manifold and a second amount of air from the air tank to the intake manifold.
