A door module assembly for a motor vehicle door has a plate-like carrier holding a plurality of door hardware components in a pre-configured orientation, including one or more window regulator rails. The carrier seals the motor vehicle door and includes a flap that provides at least partial access to the window regulator rails. A first trim panel is pre-fixed to the carrier. A second trim panel articulates with respect to the first trim panel between an initial position generally parallel to the first trim panel and an installed position generally in-line with the first trim panel. With the carrier storing substantially all of the hardware required for the door and the trim panels covering substantially the entire surface area of the door, handling and assembly operations are minimized.

A closure panel assembly for a vehicle comprising a closure panel capable of movement between an open position and a closed position, and a garment hook assembly mounted to the closure panel. When the closure panel is closed, the garment hook is presented to an interior space of the vehicle.

A panel fastener includes separable components formed from two different plastics, one relatively rigid and the other somewhat more flexible and resilient. The two components are formed in a two shot injection molding process and are joined through a ball and socket joint that allows subsequent separation and reconnection.

A releasable push-in fastener assembly for joining a first component to a panel comprises a pair of spaced latch legs extending from the first component for engagement in an opening in the panel. An axially elongated pin is adapted to extend into the space between the legs from an opening in the first component to maintain the legs in their latched relationship with the opening in the panel. A shroud is carried by the outer end of the pin to enclose a portion of the first component to present a pleasing appearance and conceal the presence of the pin.

Support and releasable fastener assembly

A rivet type fastener assembly that is especially suited for joining components to vehicle bodies and panels includes resilient legs that extend from the component and through an opening in the panel. An axially elongated pin extends through a hole in the component to a position between the legs. The pin has an enlarged body joined to a head by a reduced size connecting body portion. A retention latch is provided for retaining the pin in selected positions in the hole including a first position where the enlarged body portion is in the space between the legs to prevent movement of the legs laterally toward one another and a second position wherein the relatively smaller intermediate portion is in the space between the legs to permit the legs to be moved laterally toward one another for disconnecting the component from the panel.
