A bleed valve includes a housing. The housing includes an inlet and an outlet with a cylindrical flow path defined between the inlet and the outlet. A diametral plane is defined diametrically spanning the cylindrical flow path. A butterfly disc inside the housing is rotatably mounted to the housing along a rotation axis for rotation between an open position and a closed position. A link rotatably is connected to a pivot point on the butterfly disc for relative rotation of the link and the butterfly disc along a pivot axis parallel to the rotation axis. The pivot axis is on an opposite side of the diametral plane from the rotation axis.

Self-actuated bleed valves for gas turbine engines

Disclosed is a valve assembly, having: a valve duct having an upstream end, a downstream end and a duct wall extending from the upstream end to the downstream end; a first conduit extending from a first end at the valve duct to a second end spaced apart from the first end, the first conduit terminating at a valve assembly component; and a washing filter that includes filer media, wherein the filter media extends into the valve duct to remove particles and provide a clean flow to the first conduit.

A valving system has an actuator member connected to move with an actuator piston and change the position of a valve member. There is a smaller face fluid chamber acting on a small area piston face, and a larger face fluid chamber acting on a larger face of the actuator piston. The torque motor has an armature and a flapper caused to move by current received at the armature. The flapper moves between two fluid ports to control the pressure in the larger face chamber. The flapper further has a positioning extension engaging a first feedback spring operable between it and a forward face of the actuator piston and providing a spring force in combination with a spring force from the positioning extension. A control is operable to provide current to the armature to control the fluid received in the larger face chamber. The controller is programmed to associate the current supplied to the armature to an actual position of the valve member. A method is also disclosed.

Positioning valve control system

A manual positioning assembly for connection to a shaft of a valve configured to manually manipulate a disc of the valve between an open and closed position. The manual valve positioning assembly includes a housing having a first and a second end. The first end includes a flange configured for fastening the housing to the valve. The second end includes a conical feature. An alignment bushing within the second end of the housing and a double universal joint. The double universal joint includes a first end and a second end. The first end of the double universal joint is configured to be mechanically fastened to the shaft of the valve. The second end is positioned within the alignment bushing and includes a socket configured to receive a tool that manually turns the double universal joint, the shaft, and the disc to position the disc in the open or closed position.

An inline valve includes a sliding piston having a radially outer stop portion with a forward end. A radially inner sliding portion is connected to the radially outer stop portion by an arm. A housing includes an outer housing body surrounding the piston. The housing has a stop surface selectively in contact with the forward end of the radially outer stop portion of the piston to block flow for a housing inlet to a housing outlet. The radially inner sliding portion slides on a support tube. At least a portion of the radially inner sliding portion is formed of a first material having better wear resistance than a second material forming the outer stop portion of the piston. The second material has a greater resistance to high temperature and pressure than the first material. A vent valve for a compressor is also disclosed.

A pressure actuated switching valve includes a first valve chamber including a first chamber portion. The first chamber portion has a first inner diameter, a second chamber portion having a second inner diameter that is greater than the first inner diameter, a third chamber portion having a third inner diameter that is greater than the first inner diameter, a fourth chamber portion having a fourth inner diameter that is greater than first inner diameter, and a valve member. The valve member includes a first section having a first outer diameter that is greater than the first inner diameter. A second section of the valve member has a second outer diameter that is closely matched to the third inner diameter. A third section of the valve member is arranged has a third outer diameter that is greater than the first outer diameter.

A torque motor assembly includes a shell which has a first wall and a second wall which defines a cavity. A torque motor is positioned at least partially within the cavity. At least one compliant pad is positioned between the first wall and the torque motor and is configured to trap at least one wire within the shell. A housing for a torque motor and a method of assembling a torque motor assembly are also disclosed.

Disclosed is a valve assembly with: a valve body defining valve inlet and outlet ports; a manifold connected to the valve outlet port, the manifold includes: a manifold inlet body portion defining: a manifold internal surface forming a manifold channel; and a first manifold external surface defining a manifold inlet opening that opens to the manifold channel, the manifold channel is fluidly coupled to the valve outlet port via the manifold inlet opening; a manifold outlet port, and a manifold outlet conduit extending from the manifold inlet body portion to the manifold outlet port; a manifold exhaust port, and a manifold exhaust conduit extending from the manifold inlet body portion to the manifold exhaust port, the manifold exhaust and outlet conduits are fluidly coupled to each other via the manifold channel, heat fins extend from the manifold exhaust conduit; and a eutectic plug disposed within the manifold exhaust conduit.

A valve member is mounted on a shaft to pivot within a fluid passage. A control selectively moves a piston in a linear direction to control a position of the valve member in the fluid passage. The piston causes a roller pin to move as the piston moves linearly. The roller pin is mounted in crank collars of a crank shaft such that movement of the roller pin causes the crank collars to rotate crank shaft rotating position, and the valve shaft. The roller pin is mounted within the crank collars by bearings. The bearings each have an outer race associated with a crank collar, an inner race associated with the roller pin, and bearing members separate the inner and outer race. There is a spring bias resisting movement of the inner races relative to said roller pin. An anti-ice system is also disclosed.

A torque transfer arrangement for a butterfly valve includes a crank having a tubular portion with an outer radial surface and an inner radial surface defining a cylindrical bore about a first axis. The tubular portion has two openings connecting the outer surface with the inner surface. A shaft is sized and configured to fit within the cylindrical bore and aligned with the first axis. A hole formed therethrough is substantially perpendicular to the first axis. A tapered pin is sized and configured to snuggly engage within the two openings and the hole. A butterfly valve and method are also disclosed.

A bleed valve includes a housing with an inlet coupled to an outlet by a duct. A guide tube is fixed within the housing between the inlet and the outlet. A piston with a piston orifice is slideably supported on the guide tube and movable between an open position and a closed position. The duct fluidly couples the inlet to the outlet in the open position, the duct fluidly separates the inlet from the outlet in the closed position, and the piston orifice fluidly couples the inlet with the outlet in the open position and the closed position to move piston between the open position and the closed position according to differential in pressure between the inlet and the outlet of the bleed valve. Compressors, gas turbine engines, and methods of controlling fluid flow are also described.

A valve system includes a heat exchanger disposed within a heat exchanger manifold. The heat exchanger manifold has a first face defining a first flow inlet and an exhaust outlet, a second face disposed opposite the first face and defining a second flow inlet, a third face extending between the first face and the second face, and a first side and a second side disposed opposite the first side. The first side and the second side each extend between the first face, the second face, and the third face. A first torque motor assembly is mounted to the first side. A second torque motor assembly is mounted to the second side.

A system includes an air turbine starter having an inlet, a turbine air exhaust outlet, an output shaft, and a turbine in fluid communication with the inlet and the turbine air exhaust outlet. The turbine is operably coupled to the output shaft. The system also includes an outlet valve assembly configured to adjust an exhaust area of the turbine air exhaust outlet.
