The invention consists of novel systems and methods for mixing and/or applying biologies including live biologies and/or any additive having therapeutic or growth promoting value with and/or to animal feed, thereby creating treated animal feed, and for delivering such treated animal feed to animals in need via a delivery system. The invention also provides a system and method to treat seed with biologies prior to or contemporaneously with packaging, storing, and/or planting.

System for delivery of biologics

The present invention is directed to a novel live attenuated isolate and sub-isolets thereof of a strain of the pathogenfor protecting fish from ESC infection or disease, a vaccine composition comprising the isolet, a method of oral delivery of the vaccine and any vaccine, and an apparatus designed to effectively mix the vaccine with fish feed and deliver the vaccine to fish.

A rapid and sensitive PCR-based assay is provided to facilitate early detection ofin channel catfish. This bacteria is the causative agent in the disease, Enteric septicemia of catfish (ESC). Also provided is a method of selecting breeding stock for use in selective breeding programs to improve disease resistance in channel catfish. Also provided is a method of determining the efficacy of vaccines produced against ESC.
