A resource tagging service allows resource tags to be created and associated with computing resources in a service provider network. The resource tags can be utilized to search, collect, filter, organize and otherwise manage computing resources in the service provider network having matching tags, and/or to perform other types of functionality. A resource groups service allows customers and/or other users of the service provider network to view and access collections of computing resources that share common resource tags and/or other attributes. Resource groups can also be evaluated in order to identify computing resources in a service provider network for which certain types of actions or other functionality is to be performed. Membership of resource groups can also be evaluated over time and inferences can be drawn from the membership and from operational information associated with the member computing resources.

Resource tagging and grouping

In some embodiments, a system includes a proxy and an application server. The proxy is operable to intercept a request to download application content from an application server, insert an address of a navigation service into the request to yield an augmented request, and transmit the augmented request to the application server. The application server is operable to receive the augmented request, generate an application in response to the augmented request, the application comprising the application content, a navigation placeholder, and code to access the navigation service at the address, the navigation placeholder representing a portion of the application where the navigation service may be inserted, and transmit the application for receipt by the client.

Technologies are disclosed herein for resource tagging, grouping and associated functionality. A resource tagging service allows resource tags to be created and associated with computing resources in a service provider network. The resource tags can be utilized to search, collect, filter, organize and otherwise manage computing resources in the service provider network having matching tags, and/or to perform other types of functionality. A resource groups service allows customers and/or other users of the service provider network to view and access collections of computing resources that share common resource tags and/or other attributes. Resource groups can also be evaluated in order to identify computing resources in a service provider network for which certain types of actions or other functionality is to be performed. Membership of resource groups can also be evaluated over time and inferences can be drawn from the membership and from operational information associated with the member computing resources.

Technologies are disclosed herein for asynchronous provision of resource status data. A resource status application can submit a request to a resource status service for status data regarding one or more computing resources provided by network services in a service provider network. In response thereto, the resource status service can submit synchronous requests to the network services for the status data. The resource status service can also provide a reply to the resource status application that includes an identifier (ID) that can be utilized to retrieve all or a portion of the status data at a future time. The reply might also specify a period of time that the resource status application is to wait before submitting another request for the status data to the resource status service. Subsequently, the resource status application can submit additional requests for the status data to the resource status service that include the identifier.

Asynchronous provision of resource status data

Systems and methods for providing information responsive to a request. In an embodiment, a request from a requestor is received. A plurality of eligible information sources that are capable of providing data at least partially responsive to the information request are identified. For each identified information source, a data request according to a schema accepted by the identified information source is prepared and responses from the eligible information sources are received. The responses are homogenized according to a common schema and information from the homogenized responses are provided to the requestor.

Techniques for aggregating data from multiple sources

A system and method are provided to allow access to one or more computing resources using a single authentication scheme even though some of the computing resources may support different authentication schemes. In various embodiments, upon receiving a user request to access one or more computing resources, a first authentication credential according to a first authentication scheme is generated subsequent to successful authentication of the user. If processing of the request requires a second authentication credential according to a second authentication scheme, the second credential may be encapsulated in the first authentication credential and later extracted and combined with additional information, if necessary, for providing the requested access to the one or more computing resources.

Authentication adaptation

Systems and methods for providing information responsive to a request. In an embodiment, a request from a requestor is received. A plurality of eligible information sources that are capable of providing data at least partially responsive to the information request are identified. For each identified information source, a data request according to a schema accepted by the identified information source is prepared and responses from the eligible information sources are received. The responses according to a common schema are homogenized and information from the homogenized responses are provided to the requestor.
