Phosphor-containing panels or screens have improved resistance to yellowing and image defects by the incorporation of a primary or secondary amine having a pKa of 8.5 or more and a molecular weight of less than 10,000 daltons into the phosphor layer or an overcoat layer. A peroxide scavenger can also be present to further improve stability of the phosphor panel. The phosphors are preferably storage phosphors containing iodine. This phosphor panels can be prepared using non-peroxide-generating organic solvents for further stabilization.

The dosimeter can be used to track location and irradiation of an associated good.

An intraoral x-ray film packet having non-lead radiation shielding for shielding scattered radiation. The packet includes a film chip and a radiation shielding member. The film chip has two sides and the radiation shielding element is disposed on one side of the film chip to provide radiation shielding when the film packet is exposed to radiation. The radiation shielding element is made of a material including a thermoplastic and a non-lead metal powder and/or non-lead metal compound. In one configuration, the film chip and the radiation shielding element are disposed within a light-tight envelope. In another configuration, the radiation shielding element is one side of the envelope, wherein the envelope has two opposing sides, and the chip is disposed within the envelope.

Dental x-ray packets having non-lead radiation shielding

A phosphor screen comprises an inorganic phosphor capable of absorbing X-rays and emitting electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength greater than 300 nm. The phosphor is disposed on a support that has a reflective substrate comprising a continuous polyester first phase and a second phase dispersed within the continuous polyester first phase. The second phase contains microvoids that in turn contain barium sulfate particles. This support provides improved reflectivity particularly at shorter wavelengths.

A method of measuring an absorbed dose of ionizing radiation using a measuring device that bears an integral identification mark, comprising the steps of: providing a support; disposing on the support a first region capable of measuring an absorbed dose of ionizing radiation; disposing on the support a second region that bears integral identification mark; exposing at least the first region to a dose of ionizing radiation; and reading the signal from the first region.

Method of measuring dose of local radiation

A method of mammography imaging includes exposing a patient to a peak voltage greater than 29 kVp using X-radiation generating equipment comprising rhodium or tungsten anodes. The film used in this method comprises a cubic grain silver halide emulsion layer on one side of the support and a tabular grain silver halide emulsion layer on the other side. The cubic grain silver halide emulsion layer comprises a combination of first and second spectral sensitizing dyes that provides a combined maximum J-aggregate absorption on the cubic silver halide grains of from about 540 to about 560 nm. The first spectral sensitizing dye is an anionic benzimidazole-benzoxazole carbocyanine, the second spectral sensitizing dye is an anionic oxycarbocyanine. The cubic grain silver halide emulsion layer also includes a mixture of gelatin or a gelatin derivative and a second hydrophilic binder other than gelatin or a gelatin derivative. The cubic silver halide grains comprise from about 1 to about 20 mol % chloride and from about 0.25 to about 1.5 mol % iodide, both based on total silver in the cubic grain emulsion layer, which cubic silver halide grains have an average ECD of from about 0.65 to about 0.8 &#x3bc;m. Moreover, the cubic silver halide grains are doped with a hexacoordination complex compound within part or all of the innermost 95% of the grains. The film can be exposed to provide a black-and-white image having a d(&#x3b3;)/d(log E) value greater than 5.

A radiographic silver halide film comprises a cubic grain silver halide emulsion layer on one side of the support and a tabular grain silver halide emulsion layer on the other side. The cubic grain silver halide emulsion layer comprises a combination of first and second spectral sensitizing dyes that provides a combined maximum J-aggregate absorption on the cubic silver halide grains of from about 540 to about 560 nm. These films can be exposed to provide a black-and-white image having a d(&#x3b3;)/d(log E) value greater than 5 and are particularly useful when imaged using X-radiation generating devices comprising rhodium or tungsten anodes.

The cassette includes: first and second storage phosphor plates having first and second length dimensions, a shell having first and second opposite open ends; a first assembly for detachably mounting said first storage phosphor plate in said shell from said first open end; and a second assembly for detachably mounting said second storage phosphor plate in said shell from said second open end, wherein said first and second storage phosphor plates are mounted in said shell such that they form a substantially continuous storage phosphor composite for recording an elongated radiographic image.
