The present disclosure provides a formulation and methods for simultaneously dissolving metal sulfide scales, inhibiting acid gas corrosion, and inhibiting the formation of calcite and barite in a system having low or high shear stress conditions due to fluid movement, in which the formulation contains a THP+salt, one or more corrosion inhibitors, one or more scale inhibitors, and one or more acid corrosion inhibitors. The formulation may be applied to the system in diluted or undiluted form, and continuously or in batch style.

Formulation and method for dissolution of metal sulfides, inihibition of acid gas corrosion, and inhibition of scale formation

Preparing a demulsifier, an oil soluble imidazoline corrosion inhibitor, an alkylphenolic resin, an alkylphenolic resin oxyalkylate, a paraffin inhibitor, a defoamer, an oil soluble scavenger, an oil soluble cleaner, a wetting agent, a surfactant, a foamer, and combinations thereof, in a non-limiting embodiment, in the absence of a BTEX solvent would be more beneficial to the environment than the same products prepared with BTEX solvent(s). The method may include adding an organic solvent to a mixture to form the aforementioned material(s). The organic solvent may be or include propylene glycol methyl ether acetate (PGMEA currently marketed as DOWANOL PMA&#x2122;), dipropylene glycol methyl ether acetate (currently marketed as DOWANOL DPMA&#x2122;), diisobutyl ketone (DIBK), methyl isobutylketone (MIBK), and mixtures thereof.

Use of a BTEX-free solvent to prepare stimulation and oilfield production additives

Mitigating or preventing corrosion of metal may be achieved in systems that are alkaline, such as carbon dioxide capture systems. The method may include adding an additive to a system wherein the system is at an alkaline pH; the system has both Oand COpresent; or the system is at an alkaline pH and has both Oand COpresent. The additive may be selected from the group consisting of: quaternary aromatic amines; quaternary alkyl substituted aromatic amines; and combinations thereof. The corrosion inhibiting properties of the additives may be increased by use of synergistic combinants. The salts may be unneutralized or partially neutralized. The invention is particularly relevant to hydraulic fracturing fluids used in enhanced oil recovery. The compositions herein are made in the presence of a reactive solvent, such as a polyalkylene glycol, e.g. polyethylene glycol. The compositions of this invention are more environmentally friendly than some current technology.

Copolymers useful for gelling acids

A corrosion inhibitor comprising a quantity of a phosphorylated oxyalkylated polyol at a pH of 5.0 or higher which produces a first level of corrosion loss in an oxygenated corrosive system under given conditions, and an amount of a passivating agent effective to decrease the corrosion loss under said given conditions to a second level which is less than the first level. The passivating agent minimizes the impact of the corrosion inhibitor on the rheology of drilling system fluids.

High performance phosphorus-containing corrosion inhibitors for inhibiting corrosion drilling system fluids

An aqueous external dispersion comprising a wax dispersant and an organic crystal modifier composition dispersed through a continuous water phase is useful as a crystal modifier for petroleum or a petroleum-derived liquid. The dispersant comprises a non-ionic surfactant and is present in the dispersion in an amount sufficient to impart at least meta-stability to the dispersion. The dispersion has a viscosity at 25.degree. C. of less than about 50,000 centipoise.

A method for suppressing the viscosity of a calcium exotoxin slurry is disclosed. The method comprises adding to the slurry a viscosity-suppressing amount of a copolymer of a vinyl-based monomer and 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid or its sodium salt. The copolymer has a weight average molecular weight of from about 1,000 to about 10,000. A slurry comprising calcium exotoxin and about 0.25 to about 2.5 percent by weight of such copolymer is also disclosed.
