A fastening arrangement for connecting two items comprises a stud 16 secured to one item 14 and a captive fastener 18 located in a fastener body 20 secured to the other item. The captive fastener 18 is made up of a nut 32, a washer 34 and an outer clip 36 for securing the nut to the clip. The nut, washer and clip 36 may all be passed though the access opening 30 in the fastener body when separate, but when assembled, they resist withdrawal.

Fastening arrangements

Locking bolt assembly comprises a bush (9) fixed in use with respect to a structure to which a bolt of the assembly is to be engaged and a socket (1) carried on the bush (9) and provided with locking means (6) for preventing rotation of the socket (1) on the bush (9) but permitting limited longitudinal movement thereon. The bolt is threaded and has a head (3) dimensioned for rotational locking engagement within socket (1). A coil spring (7) urges the head (3) and socket (1) into rotational locking engagement. In use the socket (1) may be moved longitudinally with respect to said bush (9) against the action of the spring (7) from a position in which the head (3) and the socket (1) are radically locked, to a position in which the head (3) is freed for rotation and engagement with a co-operating nut fixed to the structure.

Screw threaded locking bolt assembly

A seal (5) suitable for sealing a door (3) to an aircraft fuselage (1) and which also acts as a rain channel when the door (3) is open. In one embodiment the seal (5) is of unitary construction and made from high tear strength silicone rubber. It comprises a flange region (7) for attachment to the fuselage (1) and a hollow compressible bulb (8) which connects the flange (7) with a pair of sealing lips (9,10). The invention has the advantage of providing an effective seal for doors having uneven inner surfaces.

Sealing structure

A deployment arangement comprises an inner tube 10 pivoted to ground at `P` and carrying an outer tube 12 for telescoping movement. The inner end of the outer tube 12 carries a collar assembly 14 which is pivotally connected to a drive or radius arm 18 which is pivoted to ground at `Q`. The radius arm 18 carries a drive plate 50 which defines a cam track in which a cam follower runs. The mechanism is driven by a ram 20. On actuation of the ram 20, the consequent rotation of a drive plate relative to the collar assembly 14 initially executes a programmed rotation of the outer tube 12 about its longitudinal axis and then locks the outer tube against rotation. Thereafter, the outer tube 12 extends telescopically relative to the inner tube and the inner tube pivots about `P`.
