A gas outlet monitoring system for a boiler system includes a gas probe(s) with a plurality of gas sensing locations wherein each location measures a plurality of parameters of the gas flow, such a oxygen concentration and temperature. The multi-sensor probe includes a tubular lance and a plurality of sensor pods spaced along the lance. Each sensor pod has an oxygen sensor disposed in a first port, and a first temperature sensor disposed in a second port. An enclosure is disposed at one end of the tubular lance. The enclosure has a respective pressure sensor for each oxygen sensor port. A plurality of first tubes passes through the lance between the enclosure and the first port of a respective sensor pod to provide a gas to the respective first port for the purpose of providing cleaning air. A plurality of second tubes passes through the lance between the enclosure and the first port of a respective sensor pod to provide fluid communication between gas in the respective first port and the respective pressure sensor. One pressure sensor is provided for each oxygen sensor.

Multi-sensor probe for monitoring combustion in a conduit

A system for effecting the pretreatment therewith of a sorbent comprising a conveying line (), such as a pipe, and a plurality of solution nozzles operative for purposes of introducing a solution to treat the sorbent. More particularly, the conveying line () includes an inlet (), an outlet (), and an inner surface () that is operative to define a passageway () through which sorbent particles are capable of being transported between the inlet () of the conveying line () and the outlet () of the conveying line (). Each of the plurality of solution nozzles includes a respective one of a plurality of orifices () that are designed to be disposed circumferentially about the inner surface () of the conveying line () and that are designed to be operative to effect therewith the injection of an aqueous solution of a liquid sorbent conditioner into the passageway () in order to thereby effect therewith the pretreatment of sorbent particles that are being transported through the passageway () in the conveying line ().

Injection of liquid sorbent conditioning into a sorbent transporting passageway

An integrated system [] is described for reducing operating costs of power plants while keeping gaseous pollutants in exhaust flue gasses, such as Mercury (Hg), below acceptable limits. Controller [] monitors and controls operation of a scrubber [], activator injection system [], sorbent injection system [] and a filter []. Scrubber [] provides a neutralizer to remove SOemissions. Activator injection system [] provides and activator that increases affinity of the pollutant gasses for a sorbent. Sorbent injection system [] employs novel low friction injection lances [] that evenly distribute the sorbent particles. A filter [] collects the sorbent particles that cake onto filter bags [] that are periodically cleaned. A controller [] receives the costs of materials consumed and the filter bag life for the plant and performs an optimization of the multiple variables to minimize costs while keeping the pollutant emissions below a prescribed limit.

Integrated mercury control system

Techniques for monitoring operation of a flame ignitor are provided. In one embodiment, multiple inputs are received. The inputs are received from at least one of a first group of inputs and a second group of inputs. The first group includes a flame rod voltage, a stop signal for deactivation of the flame ignitor, a fuel supply interruption signal, and an air supply interruption signal. The second group includes a start signal for activation of the flame ignitor, and a flame proven signal indicating presence of a flame produced by the flame ignitor. If inputs from the first group are received, a cause of a failure of the flame ignitor is determined. If inputs from the second group are received, a reliability of the flame ignitor is determined.

Self diagonostic flame ignitor

An ignitor assembly for a fossil fuel-fired power generation system includes an elongate electrode, a tube sub assembly, and a coupling sub assembly, and an insulator sub assembly. The coupling sub assembly cooperates with other structural elements of the ignitor assembly and the respective windbox in which the ignitor assembly is installed to operably couple the elongate electrode to an external electrical power source. The ignitor assembly includes a contact socket secured by crimping to a lead of the external electrical power source which is biased into an electric current communicating disposition with the electrode rod of the ignitor assembly.

Ignitor assembly for a fossil fuel-fired power generation system

A gas pipe ignitor is provided which is operable to ignite a non-premixed air and fuel mixture and includes an air supply conduit which has an axis ASL, a supply end , and a flame end axially spaced from the supply end . The gas pipe ignitor also includes a fuel supply conduit extending axially interiorly within at least a portion of the air supply conduit and having an entrance end and an exit end . The gas pipe ignitor further includes two branch passages each communicated with the fuel supply conduit . The gas pipe ignitor also includes a deflector body disposed in the air supply conduit and is configured relative to the air supply conduit such that air flowing in the air supply conduit flows along a pass through passage PTP from upstream of the upstream most surface of the deflector body to downstream of the deflector body . The entrance end of the fuel supply conduit is disposed axially upstream of the upstream most surface of the deflector body . The exit end of the fuel supply conduit is disposed relative to the deflector body and the air supply conduit at a location FSE downstream of the upstream most surface of the deflector body such that fuel flowing in the fuel supply conduit from its entrance end to its exit end is isolated from contact with air in the air supply conduit until exiting the exit end of the fuel supply conduit . The exit end of each branch passage is radially spaced from the exit end of the fuel supply conduit . The gas pipe ignitor also includes an ignition element , as seen in FIG. for promoting the ignition of the fuel which has exited the branch passages
