A method directed to preventing comprehension of a printed document. The method comprises feeding the printed document into a device having a printing mechanism, and printing, with the printing mechanism of over at least a portion of the printed document to prevent comprehension of the printed document.

System and method for preventing comprehension of a printed document

A system including a data projector and a plurality of touch-sensitive input tablets enables multiple participants to collaborate in the creation and marking up of a projected drawing or image. A data projector receives user markup data entered on various touch-sensitive tablets and projects the markup data onto a display surface as part of a collaborative drawing or image.

Collaborative markup projection system

A virtual device is created from a network of personal wireless devices so that they can query each other regarding the availability and sharing of resources. Each wireless device has a low power, limited range transceiver that enables it to communicate with other wireless devices similarly equipped. Once the network of wireless devices is formed, each wireless device stores a decision matrix that is made up of each wireless device's identification and the available resources within that device. A wireless device can then borrow those resources when an event occurs with that device that requires a resource that cannot be handled by the device.

System and method for generating a virtual device

A DVD device comprises a non-volatile memory and a processing system. The non-volatile memory stores a first configuration. The processing system processes a signal from a DVD, and if a reconfiguration code is stored on the DVD, then the processing system detects the reconfiguration code in the signal. If the reconfiguration code is not detected, then the processing system operates based on the first configuration. If the reconfiguration code is detected, then the processing system processes reconfiguration instructions from the signal. The processing system transfers a second configuration to the non-volatile memory based on the reconfiguration instructions. The non-volatile memory stores the second configuration. The processing system operates based on the second configuration in response to the second configuration being stored in the non-volatile memory.

Digital video disk device re-configuration

Electronic display devices and methods are described. In one embodiment, a display device comprises a housing and a display area provided within the housing to display content for a user. Memory is provided within the housing to hold data that is to be rendered into user-viewable content. An electrophotographic assembly is provided within the housing and is configured to electrophotographically render user-viewable content from the data that is held in the memory. A loop of material is disposed proximate the electrophotographic assembly and is configured to receive electrophotographically rendered content and present the content for user viewing within the display area. A control area is provided on the housing and includes one or more user-engagable structures to permit a user to interact with the device. The control area is positioned on the housing to accommodate one-handed use of the device. In one embodiment, the control area is provided on a sidewall that extends between front and back faces of the housing. The user-engagable structures can comprise any suitable user engagable structure, with an exemplary structure comprising a rocker-type switch which accommodates one-handed use of the display reader.

Electronic display devices and methods

The present invention provides an imaging system and method having a media stack component measuring system for identifying media characteristics. The imaging system includes a printer engine. A printer control system is in communication with the printer engine. A media holder is provided for holding a media stack including a plurality of sheets. A media stack component sensing system is provided which provides an output signal having a thickness component representative of sheet thickness of the sheets in the media stack.

Methods and systems for increasing the likelihood of print job completion are described. In one embodiment, an automated method is described in which a print job is initiated at a first of multiple printing devices that are communicatively linked with one another. The printing devices can be the same type or different types of printing devices. Using the first printing device, the print job is monitored for completion. In the event that the print job is unable to be completed at the first printing device, the printing device automatically attempts to re-route at least a portion of the print job to one or more of the multiple printing devices. In this manner, completion of the print job can be assured with a greater degree of likelihood. Additionally, user messages can be generated by one or more of the printing devices that notify a user that initiated a print job as to the location of the various printed portions of the print job.

A preferred embodiment of the present invention provides an electronic proximal security system comprising a master device including a first transmitter for communicating at least one device code, and a code processor. The system also comprises at least one slave device including a receiver for communicating the at least one device code, a code translator, and a slave controller for limiting access to functionality of the slave device responsive to the at least one device code transmitted from the master device.

A method of controlling light emitting elements in an electrophotographic print head includes providing a predetermined number of pulse width modulators having different width output pulses, the predetermined number being less than the number of light emitting elements; selecting multiple light emitting elements for coupling to respective ones of the pulse width modulators; and coupling the multiple selected light emitting elements to the respective pulse width modulators. An electrophotographic printer includes a print head having a predetermined number of light emitting elements; a predetermined number of pulse width modulators having different width output pulses, the predetermined number being less than the number of light emitting elements; and logic circuitry configured to couple multiple light emitting elements to respective ones of the pulse width modulators.

This invention relates to a small, wireless transmitter which contains important, personal information, such as the user's name, address, current medications, allergies, contact information or the like. When the user gets into trouble or becomes incapacitated, the transmitter could be used to send a signal to emergency response personnel. In this manner, emergency response personnel could respond to the distress signal and assist the user.
