A tab portion extends radially between the intermediate circumferential surface and an inner circumferential surface and is circumferentially bounded by at least one recess provided therein. An identification portion is provided on the outer circumferential surface.

A shoulder protection device for carrying a ladder on the shoulder of a carrier. The protection device includes a resilient cushion having at least one slot extending therethrough and at least one releasable strap extending through the slot. The releasable strap may be wrapped around the ladder to secure the resilient cushion in place such that the resilient cushion is in contact with the shoulder of the carrier.

A voice messaging system with non-user outcalling and auto-provisioning capabilities including an automatic means for configuring a telephone number to become a subscriber to a voice messaging service. The voice messaging system of the present invention facilitates the process of acquiring a voice mailbox by providing non-user outcalling and auto-provisioning. A voice messaging service user will be able to send a non-user voice messages using the voice messaging service, and, the non-user recipient desiring to subscribe to voice mailbox service can acquire a voice mailbox simply by responding to interactive queries after the reception of the voice message. The system also automatically establishes call forwarding at the appropriate central office switch and automatically creates a voice mailbox at the voice messaging system if a non-user recipient desires to become a subscriber to the voice messaging system.

Voice-messaging system with non-user outcalling and auto-provisioning

A verifying non-user outcall unit within a voice messaging system attempts to deliver a subscriber's message to a non-subscriber. During the delivery attempt, the verifying non-user outcall unit directs the recording of a signal returned after dialing a recipient's telephone number. The verifying non-user outcall unit analyzes the signal returned, and determines whether the delivery attempt is successful. If the delivery attempt is unsuccessful, the verifying non-user outcall unit stores the recorded signal and a nondelivery notification in the originating subscriber's mailbox. If the delivery attempt is successful, the verifying non-user outcall unit stores a voice signal recorded after the recipient telephone is answered and a delivery notification in the originating subscriber's mailbox.

Voice messaging system and method providing message delivery verification

An improved telephone call processing apparatus for processing facsimile messages. The facsimile processing apparatus comprises a message control system including a voice control unit (VCU), a control processor unit (CPU), and a telephone line card. Multiple buses including a high speed voice/data bus, a control bus, and a time division multiplexed (TDM) bus are used to couple the VCU, the CPU and the line card. The high speed data bus is dedicated for voice and data transmission only. The control bus is dedicated to command controls and system background tasks. The TDM bus is used to make full duplex voice connections between individual line card ports and facsimile message controller modem channels. The CPU manages the connections between line card ports and fax channels. The VCU comprises a high speed processor and a control processor. The VCU controls the transmission of voice and facsimile data over the high speed data bus to and from a non-volatile message storage unit, the line card, and a facsimile message controller (FMC). The cooperative processing of these components provides a highly integrated and versatile apparatus for processing both voice and facsimile messages in an integrated environment. Facsimile messages may be received, stored, forwarded, and sent from mailboxes. Status information pertaining to the facsimile messages is maintained and accessible to users via telephone line links.

Call processing system with facsimile processing

An integrated application controlled call processing and messaging system for use with a telephone system. The preferred embodiment comprises a PBX or central office system (Centrex) coupled to a voice messaging system to which an applications processor is coupled. The PBX and voice messaging system supply information related to the incoming telephone call to the applications processor. The applications thereafter begins execution of a call processing flow program designed to handle the processing of the incoming call and associated messages.

Integrated application controlled call processing and messaging system

A PBX telephone call control system is disclosed. The system provides a line interface unit connection between a plurality of subscriber line extensions and a private branch exchange (PBX) switching equipment. The call control system appears to the PBX like any other telephone extension within the office environment and provides the user with more features in conjunction with the pre-existing PBX equipment, providing expanded capabilities at a reasonable expense.

A voice messaging system for use with a telephone system. The preferred embodiment comprises a voice messaging system which interfaces to a PBX through a feature phone interface, the voice messaging system emulating a feature phone. The PBX supplies information to the voice messaging system such as information on the origination and history of the call. The present invention discloses improved methods of handling calls directed to the voice messaging system based on the information supplied by the PBX.
