An apparatus for conversion between AC and DC voltages includes a rectifier and first and second stages coupled to each other and having a regulator and a switched-capacitor circuit respectively. The first stage receives a first voltage from the rectifier and the second stage provides a second voltage. A controller controls the first and second stages.

Switched capacitors for AC-DC applications

In a power converter, a regulator that receives a first voltage couples to a switched-capacitor converter that provides a second voltage. Slew-control circuitry controls slew rate within the switched-capacitor converter during operation thereof. A controller controls the operation of both the regulator and the switched-capacitor converter.

This document discusses, among other things, a protection system and method configured to detect a parasitic impedance between first and second pins of a standard connector and to remove a current path between a power source and a supply pin of the standard connector if a low-impedance is detected, in certain examples, without adding a current sense resistance to a return path between a ground pin of the standard connector and the power source.

A line compensation circuit for a power supply includes a line voltage sense circuit and a current limit adjuster. The line voltage sense circuit senses a slope of an inductor current by way of a compensation capacitor that receives a sense voltage that is representative of the inductor current on a primary side of the power supply. A compensation current that is generated from the compensation capacitor is used by the current limit adjuster to adjust an output current limit of the power supply.

An integrated circuit (IC) and fabrication method thereof is provided that include the steps of specifying a plurality of required tile modules suitable for a particular end application, each of the modular tiles being configured to perform a predetermined function and constructed to have approximately the same length and width dimensions. The modular tiles are used to form the IC in a standard IC fabrication process. In many implementations, physical layout of the IC does not include the step of routing. Capabilities also include configuring the modular tiles to have programmable performance parameters and configuring the modular tiles to cooperate usefully with one another based on a programmable parameter.

Method and system for the modular design and layout of integrated circuits

A programmable analog tile integrated circuit is configured over a standardized bus by communicating tile configuration information from a first integrated circuit tile, through a second integrated circuit tile, to a third integrated circuit tile. Each of the three integrated circuit tiles is part of an integrated circuit. The standardized bus is formed when the tiles are placed adjacent one another. Data bus and control signal conductors of the adjacent tiles line up and interconnect such that each signal conductor is electrically connected to every tile. Tile configuration information may be written to a selected register identified by an address in any selected one of the tiles using the data bus and control lines, regardless of the relative physical locations of the tile sending and the tile receiving the information. Thus, tile configuration information may pass from one tile to another tile, through any number of intermediate tiles.

Communicating configuration information across a programmable analog tile to another tile

Embodiments described herein provide a LED lighting system and method. A transformer has a primary winding and a secondary winding. A plurality of LED strings are coupled to the secondary winding of the transformer. At least one switch is coupled to at least one of the plurality of LED strings. A controller is coupled to the at least one switch and configured to control the operation of the at least one switch such that current flows through the plurality of LED strings in an alternating manner.

Multi-string led current control system and method

Embodiments of a circuit and method for setting initial trim bits in an integrated circuit (IC) are described. The circuit includes a memory array including a plurality of trim bit cells to store and provide trim bits to trim registers in a main circuit of the IC following energizing of the IC. The memory array further includes replica bit circuitry to generate a number of replica bits. A logic circuit coupled to the memory array and the main circuit of the IC is configured to receive the replica bits, and to provide a signal to the IC that indicates when the trim bits are valid. In one embodiment, the circuit further includes redundancy check logic configured to receive a number of the trim bits from the memory array, compare the number of trim bits to a pre-determined or computed value, and to provide a BITS_OK signal to the logic circuit.

Mutli-string LED current control system and method

A programmable analog tile integrated circuit configuration tool communicates a power management control characteristic query soliciting control requirement information for a novel Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) tile in a Multi-Tile Power Management Integrated Circuit (MTPMIC). The configuration tool receives a user response to the query indicating control requirements across a network. The PMIC tile includes configuration registers. Configuration information bit values stored in the configuration registers control the operational characteristics of the functional circuitry of the tile. The configuration registers of each novel PMIC tile are accessible at pre-defined addresses on a standardized bus of the MTPMIC. In response to the user response, the configuration tool generates appropriate tile configuration information for loading the configuration registers such that the PMIC tile within the MTPMIC is programmed to satisfy the user's control requirements.
