A multiburst test signal generator and a method for using the generator's test signal to determine the frequency response characteristics of television video circuits with a high degree of accuracy is described. One of the burst frequencies is continuously enabled and made variable and the other burst frequencies are disabled. The resulting continuous sine wave is applied to the circuit being tested, its frequency is varied, and the output of the circuit being tested is monitored with a conventional frequency counter.

Multiburst signal generation

An apparatus for matching the blanking levels of two television video signals is disclosed. When the vertical interval reference signal or any other signal (e.g., sync) is inserted on a program video signal their blanking levels should be matched. The apparatus described accomplishes this by matching the blanking level of the signal being inserted to that of the program video. The match is produced by sampling the residual clamping error of a slow clamp on the program channel and adding it to the signal being inserted. Therefore, the noise which would have been added to the program video is added to the inserted signal instead and therefore will not be visible in the television picture.

Residual clamp error compensation circuit

A multifrequency burst test signal generator for use in testing television equipment is described. The starting position of the multiburst signals is progressively delayed throughout the television field thereby filling the burst packets. Also the shape of the burst packets is modified to reduce the spurious sideband signals created by the signal generator switching circuits.

Variable start multiburst signal generator

A television transmitter video stabilization system having zero carrier reference drive pulse synchronized and referenced to demodulated video having zero carrier reference pulse and vertical interval reference signal for automatically maintaining uniform transmitted signal by maintaining a percentage ratio between the zero carrier reference pulse and the vertical interval reference signal.
