This invention relates to a solar energy collector that converts solar radiation into both electrical and thermal energy. More specifically this invention relates to a concentrating solar energy collector with an integrated construction that minimizes cost, bulk, and weight, and maximizes overall efficiency. Typical non-concentrating solar collectors use photovoltaic cells over the entirety of their surface. These solar cells are the most expensive part of the collector. This invention discloses using a reflector to concentrate the incident radiation on photovoltaic cells with one-twentieth the area of the reflector, and transferring the co-generated thermal energy into a working fluid pumped through the cell support structure.

Concentrated photovoltaic and thermal solar energy collector

A solid-state spectrometer for the non-invasive generation and capture of thermal gradient spectra from human or animal tissue. The spectrometer includes an infrared transmissive thermal mass window for inducing a transient temperature gradient in the tissue by means of conductive heat transfer with the tissue, and cooling means in operative combination with the thermal mass window for cooling the thermal mass window. Also provided is an infrared sensor means for detecting infrared emissions emanating from the tissue as the transient temperature gradient progresses into the tissue, and for providing output signals proportional to the detected infrared emissions. Data capture means is provided for sampling the output signals received from the infrared sensor means as the transient temperature gradient progresses into the tissue.

Solid-state non-invasive infrared absorption spectrometer for the generation and capture of thermal gradient spectra form living tissue

A solid-state device for the non-invasive generation and capture of thermal gradient spectra from sample tissue. The device includes an infrared transmissive layered window assembly, a means for inducing a thermal gradient in sample tissues. Also provided is an infrared radiation detector for detecting infrared emissions emanating from the tissue as the transient temperature gradient progresses into the sample tissues. The sensor provides output signals proportional to the detected infrared emissions. A data capture means is provided for the sampling of output signals received from the infrared radiation detector as the induced temperature gradient progresses into the sample tissue.

Solid-state non-invasive thermal cycling spectrometer

A calibration standard for calibrating a thermal gradient spectrometer. The calibration standard is a structure having a particular glucose concentration which a thermal gradient spectrometer reads for determining whether the spectrometer is in calibration. The structure of the calibration standard properly mimics the physiology of human tissue. A number of such standards, each containing a different concentration of glucose are provided in kit form with a thermal gradient spectrometer for use in calibrating the spectrometer. The spectrometer is provided with a display and internal circuitry for performing self-calibrating adjustments and a communications port for electronically coupling to a remote computer and database for supplying external calibration commands to said spectrometer.

Devices and methods for calibration of a thermal gradient spectrometer

Solid-state non-invasive infrared absorption spectrometer for the generation and capture of thermal gradient spectra from living tissue

A drier for wafers or the like has a drier chamber shaped to receive the wafer, which is lowered into the open top of the drier chamber and withdrawn therefrom by a lifter, which may be motor actuated. Below the drier chamber is a heater chamber to vaporize alcohol or other liquid, which rises and condenses on the relatively cool wafer. A water jacket around the top of the drier chamber condenses vapor and thus reduces escape of vapor.

Vapor drier for semiconductor wafers and the like

A wafer retention arrangement is disclosed for use with wafer stripping machines and the like which include a housing and a turret rotatably coupled to the housing for rotation about a selected axis, the turret being formed with a plurality of pockets that are adapted to retain a wafer. The wafer retention arrangement for each pocket includes a plurality of clips disposed about the periphery of the pocket to support a retained wafer. A latching mechanism cooperates with the support means to hold the wafer within the pocket. The latching mechanism is pivotally mounted to the turret for rotation about an axis that is substantially parallel to the surface of a wafer held within its associated pocket. The pivot point about which the latch mechanism rotates is substantially adjacent the edge of the wafer but spaced apart from the wafer plane. The latch mechanism includes a cam follower portion for engaging the actuator, a wafer engaging portion for pressing against the side of a wafer carried by the associated pocket, and biasing means for urging the cam follower towards the engagement position. The clips and the latching mechanism cooperate to hold wafers of various sizes. An actuator mechanisms carried by the housing is arranged to independently pivot the latching arrangement from an engagement position suitable for contacting a wafer carried by its associated pocket to a disengaged position free from contacting the wafer.

Wafer retention device

Photoresist baked upon integrated circuit wafers is mechanically stripped therefrom. Wafers are unloaded from boats at the top of an elevator within a vertical housing filled with stripper solution, then deposited on a conveyor and carried through a horizontal housing also filled with stripper. The wafers are sprayed by high pressure stripper pumped through a nozzle at the end of their horizontal travel. The wafers are then transferred to another housing where they are rinsed, dried and, optionally, reloaded.
