A battery testing apparatus includes a battery cycler configured to position a battery cell in a cell pocket defined by a baseplate. The apparatus additionally includes a thermal control device configured to regulate thermal energy in the cell pocket, a baseplate thermistor for detecting baseplate temperature, and thermal control device thermistor for detecting thermal control device temperature. The apparatus also includes a printed circuit board (PCB) in electric communication with the thermal control device thermistor. An electronic microcontroller, in electric communication with the baseplate thermistor and the PCB, is configured to regulate operation of the thermal control device based on data from the baseplate thermistor and the thermal control device thermistor. A main controller, in electronic communication with the microcontroller, is programmed to establish set values for baseplate temperature and battery cell reference current or voltage and regulate electrical input to the battery cell in accordance with the reference values.

Battery testing apparatus with integral temperature control

A compact body support apparatus is provided for use with an armrest of a vehicle such as an airplane, train, or bus. The compact body support apparatus comprises a base, a support post, a housing, and a headrest cushion. The support post presents a lower end secured to the base and an upper end. The housing is secured to the upper end of the support post. The headrest cushion is secured to the housing for supporting a head of a user. The compact body support apparatus is configured to be selectively placed into a collapsed position and a deployed position, such that the support post and at least a portion of the base are disposed within the housing when the compact body support apparatus is in the collapsed position and the support post extends in a generally downward direction when the compact body support apparatus is in the deployed position.

Compact body support apparatus

A system for assaying electronic or electrochemically active materials or devices made therefrom includes a microcontroller, a main digital-to-analog converter (DAC), current and voltage sensing modules, a reference voltage DAC, and a power switch. The reference voltage DAC applies a calibrated voltage across the materials/devices, and the switch disconnects the main DAC to generate an open-circuit voltage. The microcontroller assays the materials/devices using the measured voltage, measured current, reference voltage, and/or open-circuit voltage. The main DAC may include coarse and fine DACs. A method of assaying the materials/devices includes measuring an electrical current in and a voltage across the materials/devices using the respective current and voltage sensing modules, applying a reference voltage across the materials/devices using the reference voltage DAC, activating the switch to disconnect the DAC to generate the open-circuit voltage across the materials, and using the microcontroller to assay the materials/devices as noted above.
