A system for mounting a plurality of fiber optic cassettes includes an enclosure and angle-iron-shaped elongated members that are affixed within the enclosure and vertically spaced apart. The elongated members include shelf fastener perforations disposed at regular intervals along a mounting surface and arranged to horizontally and vertically align with fastener perforations of one of the fiber optic cassettes. The system further includes a plurality of adapter brackets. Each of the adapter brackets include first and second generally planar sections spaced apart from one another and a third section joining the first and second sections. The third section includes a bracket fastener perforation. First, second and third stabilization features protrude from the first and second planar sections and are collectively arranged to secure the adapter bracket to one of the elongated members and to simultaneously allow the adapter bracket to move in a horizontal direction without substantial resistance.

System for mounting a plurality of fiber optic cassettes to a high density cassette shelf

A termination enclosure includes a base, a cover, and at least one optical component. An input member extends outwardly from the base. At least a portion of the input member extends along the bottom of the termination enclosure. The input member defines a sealed input passage that extends through the base. A sealing chamber is defined by the base and cover. A gasket disposed at the sealing chamber seals and/or retains drop cables routed into the enclosure even when the cover is moved relative to the base. The sealing chamber defines ports that are located on a common side of the enclosure as an end of the input member.

An optical fiber terminal apparatus includes an optical fiber protection jacket including a pre-defined, longitudinally extending seam that can be opened at a selected location along the jacket to define an opening into the optical fiber protection jacket at the selected location. The apparatus further includes an adapter terminal configured to mate with an outer profile of the optical fiber protection jacket. The adapter terminal includes a body portion that is configured to support a coupling between an optical fiber extending from the opening in the optical fiber protection jacket to a customer optical fiber. The seam may be repeatably and selectively closable.

A terminal for connecting customers to an optical fiber network includes a terminal housing and an optical fiber splitter in the housing. An optical fiber cable stub extends from the housing. The optical fiber cable stub has an optical fiber extending therein that is coupled to the splitter in the housing. A plurality of termination connectors are connected to the housing. Ones of the termination connectors have a customer optical fiber connection point accessible from outside the terminal housing and respective optical fibers extending in the housing from the termination connectors to the splitter. The splitter is configured to couple the optical fiber from the optical fiber cable stub to the optical fibers extending from the termination connectors to couple a single optical fiber from the optical fiber cable stub to a plurality of customer optical fiber connection points.

Optical network architecture and terminals for use in such networks

An interconnect device for optical fibers includes an enclosure. A first termination panel is mounted in the enclosure. The first termination panel has a plurality of optical fiber connection members, ones of which are associated with respective subscriber locations. A second termination panel is mounted in the enclosure that has a plurality of optical fiber connection members, ones of which are associated with respective input optical fibers associated with a service provider. A cross-connect module mounted in the enclosure has a loop of an optical fiber retained therein with a first and opposite second connectorized end of the optical fiber extending from the cross-connect module. The first and second connectorized ends of the optical fiber extend to a length sufficient to allow cross-connection of a selected pair of the connection members of the termination panels by connection of the connectorized ends thereto.

Interconnect enclosures for optical fibers including cross-connect modules and methods for using the same

An optical fiber cable distribution shelf is disclosed which comprises a cable management clip system in the rear bay as well as a cable management clip system in the front bay of the shelf. The cable management clip systems each include at least one pair of controlled bend clips and at least one divider clip positioned therebeneath in order to control the bend and to route optical fiber into and out of the cable distribution shelf without imparting any undesirable fiber damage or related attenuated signals due to uncontrolled bending of the fibers. Thus, the improved optical fiber cable distribution shelf provides for installing a higher density of fiber optic connections into an optical fiber cable distribution shelf.

An optical fiber cable distribution shelf is disclosed which comprises at least one stack of pivotably mounted trays that each have a panel of optical adapters mounted to the front of the tray. Thus, each tray is pivotably mounted in the cable distribution shelf and can be pivoted horizontally from a position parallel to center to a forward perpendicular-to-center position for easy access to the front or rear optical fiber connectors leading to the adapters mounted on the tray.

A break-out device particularly adapted for providing enhanced strain relief to the fiber optic ribbon which is broken out into individual optical fibers within the device. The break-out device comprises a housing having an aperture in one end to receive a fiber optic ribbon and an aperture in the opposing end to allow an exit for individual buffered optical fibers. A flexible elongate strain relief clamp is provided which is adapted to be fixedly positioned within the housing. The strain relief clamp includes an aperture in the medial portion thereof adapted to receive a fiber optic ribbon therein, and the strain relief clamp is further adapted to then be folded back upon itself at the aperture so as to fixedly engage the fiber optic ribbon between the overlaying portions thereof.
