A multi-function modular storage light unit including a primary housing unit and detachable modules such as a radio and an auxiliary flashlight. The primary housing unit contains a spotlight, a power switch, and a handle to carry the unit. There is also a storage compartment built into the primary housing unit. The modules preferably include belt clips for hands-free transport. The modules are removably attached to the primary unit by way of an attachment mechanism which may include alignment features and a latching mechanism. The modules may alternatively be removably attached by their belt clips to sleeves arranged on the primary housing. Each of the detachable modules and the spotlight is independently powered.

A flashlight having a battery suspension system is provided and includes a flashlight body having a substantially hollow portion into which at least one battery may be loaded; an end cap removably mountable to one longitudinal end of the flashlight body; a head assembly removably mountable to another longitudinal end of the flashlight body opposite the one longitudinal end; a first spring disposed adjacent the end cap and extending in an axial direction of the flashlight body; a second spring disposed adjacent the head assembly and extending in the axial direction of the flashlight body; and a plate member disposed with one surface in contact with the second spring, and another surface facing toward the first spring.

Portable light

The present invention provides a collapsible lantern including a base adapted to house a power source, and a telescoping portion movable, relative to the base, between an extended position and a collapsed position. The telescoping portion includes a light source electrically connected to the power source. A switch electrically connected between the power source and the light source interrupts the electrical connection between the power source and the light source when the telescoping portion is in the collapsed position.

A lantern includes a fluorescent tube light and an auxiliary incandescent light. The incandescent light is covered by a colored lens. A control knob operates a switch in electrical connection with an electric power source, the fluorescent tube light, and the incandescent light, with the control knob being operable between a 'first' or off position in which both lights are off, a 'second' position in which the incandescent light is on and the fluorescent light is off, and a 'third' position in which the incandescent light is off and the fluorescent light is on.

A modular flashlight is formed from three parts which are screwed together--a battery housing, a switch housing, and a head. An O-ring at each screw connection provides a substantially watertight seal. A bulb is mounted in the switch housing and a reflector is mounted in the head. Rotation of the head relative to the switch housing varies the focus of the light reflected by the reflector. The head can be removed from the switch housing so that the bulb can provide candle illumination.

A flashlight includes a body for holding a battery and a head which is pivotally mounted on the body. The body includes a pair of spaced-apart hinge portions, and a hinge portion of the head is positioned between the spaced-apart hinge portions and retained by a pivot pin. The head is pivotable between a first position in which the light beam from the head is parallel with the longutidnal axis of the body and a second position in which the light beam is perpendicular to the axis of the body. Detents on the pivot pin and on the head maintain the head in a selected position. A wire for maintaining electrical contact between a light in the head and the battery as the head pivots extends from the head through the pivot pin and into the body. A movable support clip on the body supports the body in a vertical position on a horizontal surface when the head is in the second position.

An attachable flashlight includes a housing for containing a power source and a light source. The housing has an elongate opening, a generally round opening and a hook disposed on one of its sides for allowing a user to releasably secure the flashlight to a support.

The flashlight apparatus of the present invention includes a rechargeable flashlight and a bracket which mounts the flashlight to a support during recharging. The flashlight includes two light sources, a first switch for activating its power source and a second switch for selecting which of the two light sources the power source energizes.
