A method of mounting a rotor assembly to a frame of an electric motor includes providing a rotor assembly having a bearing and a frame having a bearing seat. The method includes locating the bearing within the bearing seat, applying a first adhesive at a substantially hidden interface between the bearing and the bearing seat, applying a second adhesive at a substantially visible interface between the bearing and the bearing seat, and curing the first and second adhesives using different curing processes.

Assembling method of a rotor to an electric motor frame

A rotor that includes a rotor core assembly secured to a shaft. The rotor core assembly includes a magnet and an end cap secured to an end of the magnet. Each of the magnet and the end cap has a bore into which the shaft extends. The end cap forms an interference fit with the shaft. The magnet forms a clearance fit with the shaft and an adhesive is located in the clearance between the magnet and the shaft. Additionally, a method of manufacturing the rotor. The method includes inserting the shaft into the bore of the end cap. An adhesive is then introduced into the bore of the magnet and the shaft is inserted into the bore of the magnet so as to cause adhesive to be drawn into the clearance defined between the magnet and the shaft.

Rotor for an electrical machine

A rotor core assembly that includes a magnet, a first end cap located at an end of the magnet, a second end cap located at an opposite end of the magnet, and a sleeve that surrounds the magnet and the end caps. The sleeve forms an interference fit with each of the end caps, and an adhesive is located between the magnet and the sleeve. Additionally, a method of manufacturing the rotor core assembly.

Rotor core assembly

A rotor that includes an impeller secured to a shaft. The impeller has a bore and a counterbore. The shaft forms an interference fit with the bore and is adhered to the counterbore. A method of manufacturing the rotor is also described.

Rotor for a turbomachine

A rotor assembly having a first component and a second component. The second component is secured within a bore of the first component by a first adhesive and a second adhesive. The first adhesive forms an annular seal between the first component and the second component, and the second adhesive extends from the first adhesive and has a lower viscosity than that of the first adhesive.

Rotor assembly for a turbomachine

A bearing support that includes a body through which a bore extends and a plurality of grooves formed in a wall of the bore. Each groove extends from a first end of the bore and terminates prior to a second end of the bore. A bearing can be secured within the bearing support by injecting adhesive into one or more of the grooves.

A laundry appliance such as a washing machine includes an outer housing and a drum rotatably mounted therein. The drum has an inner wall and an outer wall separate from the inner wall, the inner and outer walls being perforated to allow washing liquid to flow into and out of the drum via the perforations. The area of the perforations per unit area of the outer wall is greater than the area of the perforations per unit area of the inner wall.

Laundry appliance

The invention provides a method of operating a laundry appliance () comprising an outer casing () and a drum () rotatably mounted within the outer casing (), the drum () having at least two rotatable portions () which are capable of being rotated in either a synchronized mode or a non-synchronized mode, the method comprising the steps of: (a) introducing water to the interior of the drum (); (b) heating the water to a desired temperature; (c) rotating the drum () to effect a washing action; and (d) spinning the drum () at a relatively high speed so as to remove water therefrom. In one aspect, the drum () is rotated in the non-synchronized mode either during or immediately after the step of introducing water to the interior of the drum (). This helps to distribute the washing liquid throughout the wash load. In a second aspect, the drum () is rotated in the synchronized mode during a first part of step (c) and in the non-synchronized mode during a second part of step (c), the average temperature of the water being no less during the second part of step (c) than the average temperature of the water during the first part of step (c). This improves the efficacy of the period of non-synchronized rotation. In a third aspect, the drum () is rotated in the non-synchronized mode after the end of stop (d). This releases the wash load from the drum walls after spinning and minimises creasing.
