A display system supports variable refresh rates that include a plurality of refresh rates. A source such as a graphics processing unit (GPU) provides frames to the display system at a selected one of the refresh rates. The refresh rates are factored into a corresponding plurality of prime factors. A plurality of numbers of lines per frame in frames provided at the plurality of refresh rates is determined based on one or more ratios of the plurality of refresh rates, the plurality of prime factors, and a line rate for providing frames to the display system at the plurality of refresh rates. The source then selectively provides frames to the display system at one refresh rate of the plurality of refresh rates using the same line rate regardless of which refresh rate is chosen. Furthermore, the number of lines per frame is an integer for frames provided at the refresh rates.

In some examples, an apparatus obtains source layer pixels, such as those of a content image and first destination layer pixels, such as those of a destination image. The first destination layer pixels have associated alpha values. The apparatus obtains information that indicates a first blending color format for the alpha values. The first blending color format is different from a first destination layer color format for the first destination layer pixels and an output color format for a display. The apparatus converts the source and/or first destination layer pixels to the first blending color format. The apparatus generates first alpha blended pixels based on alpha blending the source layer pixels with the first destination layer pixels using the associated alpha values. The apparatus provides, for display on the display, the first alpha blended pixels.

Method and apparatus for alpha blending images from different color formats

An apparatus and method provides temporal image processing by producing, for output on a single link such as a single cable or wireless interface, packet based multi-steam information wherein one stream provides at least frame N information for temporal imaging processing and a second stream that provides frame N&#x2212;1 information for the same display, such as a current frame and a previous frame or a current frame and next frame. The method and apparatus also outputs the packet based multi-stream information and sends it for the same display for use by the same display so that the receiving display may perform temporal image processing using the multi-stream multi-frame information sent with a single link.

A circuit includes memory retiling methods which distribute image information among a plurality of memory channels producing reconfigured image information distributed among a subset of the plurality of memory channels allowing memory channels outside of the subset to be placed into a power save mode to reduce power consumption. Additional methods are disclosed for further reductions in power consumption.
