A novel probe block assembly which independently floats multiple probe blocks in a single frame is presented. The independently floating probe blocks allow multiple probes to align independently with respective multiple mating features on a device under test. The use of a single frame allows multiple insertion probe testing via one actuation motion.

A novel two-stage clamp used in testing a device-under-test (DUT) is herein presented. The two-stage clamp provides two sequential actuations via one linear force, and includes clamps moving in multiple different directions. The two-stage clamp uniquely uses the DUT being clamped to provide the linkage and timing for the two-stage actuation of clamps moving in three different directions.

A novel floating probe block assembly with self-centering capability is presented. In accordance with the invention, a single probe block frame floatably seats a probe block on one or more self-centering springs within the frame along a first axis to center the floating probe block in the vertical plane perpendicular to the direction of probing. Countersunk spring receptacle openings center the floating probe block in the horizontal plane.

A strain relief comprises a generally cylindrically shaped, spool-like member having at least one radial slot therein that extends along a portion of the length of the cylindrically shaped, spool-like member. The radial slot divides the cylindrically shaped, spool-like member into a first hemi-spool portion and a second hemi-spool portion. The radial slot also defines a bridge section that connects the first and second hemi-spool portions. The bridge section is severable to allow the second hemi-spool portion to be separated from the first hemi-spool portion.
