Systems and methods for planning and executing a search route by a mobile sensor platform for detecting reflection are disclosed. The search route of the mobile sensor platform is based on the angle of a radiation source relative to the ground in a search area. While executing the search route, a sensor on the mobile sensor platform is configured to detect the reflection of radiation from an object in the search area.

System and method for detecting reflection with a mobile sensor platform

Takeoff and landing modes are added to a flight control system of a Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV). The takeoff and landing modes use data available to the flight control system and the VTOL UAV's existing control surfaces and throttle control. As a result, the VTOL UAV can takeoff from and land on inclined surfaces without the use of landing gear mechanisms designed to level the UAV on the inclined surfaces.

Methods and systems for planning, managing, and executing the flight path of an unmanned aerial vehicle are disclosed. In particular, the methods and systems are designed to reduce the likelihood that the UAV will be detected by determining a flight path based on the proximity of the UAV to a point of interest and the visual, acoustic, and infrared signatures of the UAV relative to a point of interest. Additionally, the methods and systems enable a UAV operator to compare a recommend flight path and an altered flight path based on how the altered flight path changes the proximity of the UAV to a point of interest, and changes the visual, acoustic, and infrared signatures of the UAV relative to a point of interest.
