Connector housing for an electrical connector

An electrical terminal for terminating magnet wire. The terminal includes a mating portion and a wire barrel positioned in line with the mating portion. The wire barrel has a first asymmetrical termination section and a second asymmetrical termination section, with the first termination section provided in line with the second termination section. The first termination section is positioned closer to the mating portion. The first and second termination sections have first side walls, second side walls and base walls. The first side walls, the second side wall and the base walls have a plurality of serrations.

Electrical terminal for terminating a wide size range of magnet wires

An electrical connector having electrical terminals and a housing. The housing has a terminal-receiving portion with terminal-receiving cavities for receiving the electrical terminals therein. At least one latch-receiving slot is positioned between adjacent terminal-receiving cavities. A cover portion is provided for covering the terminal-receiving cavities and the terminals. The cover portion has latches which cooperate with the at least one latch-receiving slot when the cover portion is moved to a closed position. A hinge portion connects the terminal-receiving portion to the cover portion. The hinge is deformable to allow the cover portion to move between an open position in which the terminals can be inserted and removed from the terminal-receiving cavities of the terminal-receiving portion and the closed position in which the terminals are secured in the terminal-receiving cavities of the terminal-receiving portion.

A terminal block having an electrically insulative housing with terminal-receiving slots with dividers provided between the terminal-receiving slots. Fastener-receiving openings extend through upper surfaces of the terminal-receiving slots toward a lower surface of the housing. The electrical terminal includes a wire barrel configured for crimped connection with an end of a conductive core of an insulated wire and an insulation barrel configured for crimped connection with an end of the insulation coating or jacket of the wire. A contact portion extends from the wire barrel and is positioned in a terminal-receiving slot of the terminal block housing. The contact portion has an opening proximate the center of the contact portion. Corners of the contact portion form securing members. An eyelet tube extends from the opening in the contact portion. The eyelet tube is deep drawn to form a screw-receiving member.

Terminal block

A terminal with ribbed contact springs for receipt of a mating terminal therein. The receptacle terminal has a contact portion which includes a bottom wall with contact sections extending from opposed sides of the bottom wall. Each of the contact sections have at least two resilient arms which extend from the bottom wall to a mating terminal engagement member. The at least two resilient arms have arcuate portions which extend from the bottom wall to the mating terminal engaging members. Each of the at least two resilient arms has a reduced contact spring rate, thereby allowing the contact normal force to be more accurately controlled with the same manufacturing tolerances. More controlled normal force allows for a minimum contact normal force to be reliably maintained while reducing the insertion force required during mating.

A receptacle connector includes a housing and a terminal held within a cavity of the housing. The housing includes a top wall, a bottom wall, and first and second side walls. The housing includes a first hold-down rib in a first corner region of the cavity defined by the top wall and the first side wall, and a second hold-down rib in a second corner region of the cavity defined by the top wall and the second side wall. The terminal defines a receptacle configured to receive a mating tab contact therein through a mating end of the housing. The first hold-down rib engages an outer surface of a first rolled wall of the terminal and the second hold-down rib engages an outer surface of a second rolled wall of the terminal to limit float of the terminal within the cavity.

A receptacle terminal for receipt of a mating terminal therein. The receptacle terminal includes a contact portion having a bottom wall and resilient arms which extend from either side of the bottom wall. The bottom wall has a raised portion with a first embossment position proximate a lead-in surface at a mating end of the contact portion. The bottom wall has a second embossment spaced from the first embossment, the first and second embossments providing additional strength and stability to the contact portion to prevent unwanted bending of the terminal. This provides a stable electrical connection while allowing for a lower insertion force of the mating terminal into the socket terminal.

An electrical terminal having a contact portion, a wire termination portion and a transition portion. The contact portion is configured to receive a mating terminal along a mating axis. The wire termination portion defines a wire termination axis that intersects the mating axis. The transition portion extends between the contact portion and the wire termination portion. The transition portion extends parallel to the mating axis and the wire termination axis. An engagement section extends at an angle from the transition portion. The engagement section has a push surface intersecting the mating axis. Wherein a force can be applied to the push surface to mate the contact portion with the mating terminal.

An embodiment is directed to a receptacle terminal for receipt of a mating terminal therein. The receptacle terminal includes a contact portion which has a bottom wall and resilient contact arms. The resilient contact arms extend from opposed sides of the bottom wall. Each of the resilient contact arms has an opening extending therethrough with a first resilient contact section and a second resilient contact section extending on either side of the opening. The first resilient contact sections and the second resilient contact sections have arcuate portions which extend from the bottom wall to mating terminal engaging members. The first resilient contact sections and the second resilient contact sections generate a contact force when a mating terminal is inserted into the terminal.

A receptacle connector that includes a positive lock receptacle, wherein the positive lock receptacle includes a wire receiving portion; and a housing insertion portion, wherein the housing insertion portion further includes a first electrical contact roll and a second electrical contact roll; and a housing adapted to receive the positive lock receptacle, wherein the housing includes: an insulating housing body; and a first crush rib positioned within the insulating housing body and a second crush rib positioned within the insulating housing body, wherein the first and second crush ribs engage and secure the first and second electrical contact rolls respectively upon insertion of the housing insertion portion of the positive lock receptacle into the housing.
