Various aspects of the subject technology relate to systems, methods, and machine-readable media for virtual try-on of items such as spectacles. A virtual try-on interface may be implemented at a server or at a user device, and may use collision detection between three-dimensional models of the spectacles and of a user's face and head to determine the correct size and position of the spectacles for virtual try-on. With the determined size and position, a virtual representation of the spectacles is superimposed on an image of the user.

Virtual try-on systems and methods for spectacles

A method for virtual try-on of user-wearable items is provided. The method includes capturing, in a client device, a first image of a user, the first image including a reference token for a user-wearable item and displaying, in the client device, images of multiple user-wearable items for the user, receiving an input from the user, the input indicative of a selected user-wearable item from the user-wearable items on display. The method also includes segmenting the first image to separate the reference token from a background comprising a portion of a physiognomy of the user, replacing a segment of the reference token in the first image with an image of the selected user-wearable item in a second image of the user, and displaying, in the client device, the second image of the user.

Virtual try-on systems for spectacles using reference frames

A lensmeter system may include a mobile device having a camera. The camera may capture a first image of a pattern through a lens that is separate from the camera, while the lens is in contact with a pattern. The mobile device may determine the size of the lens based on the first image and known features of the pattern. The camera may capture a second image of the pattern, while the lens is at an intermediate location between the camera and the pattern. The second image may be transformed to an ideal coordinate system, and processed determine a distortion of the pattern attributable to the lens. The mobile device may measure characteristics of the lens based on the distortion. Characteristics of the lens may include a spherical power, a cylinder power, and/or an astigmatism angle.

Fixtureless lensmeter system

Various aspects of the subject technology relate to systems, methods, and machine-readable media for virtual fitting of items such as spectacles and/or spectacle frames. A user interface for virtual fitting may be implemented at a server or at a user device, and utilize three-dimensional information for the user and three-dimensional information for each frame, with frame information stored in a frame database, to identify and/or recommend frames that are likely to fit the user. Fit information can be provided for a group of frames or for each individual frame selected by the user. The fit information can be provided with a static image of the frames and/or within a virtual try-on operation in which the frames are virtually placed on a real-time image of the user.

Virtual fitting systems and methods for spectacles

A process is provided for conducting an eye examination using a mobile device, the process comprising capturing a first image of an object using a camera of a mobile device set to a fixed focusing distance; determining, with reference to the first image, an absolute size of the object; capturing a second image of the object using the camera of the mobile device; determining, with reference to the second image, a distance from the mobile device to the object; providing an indication via the mobile device to move the mobile device relative to the object; and receiving input from the mobile device in response to the eye examination program.

Systems and methods for determining distance from an object

A process is provided for determining characteristics of a lens, the process including obtaining a captured image of a pattern through a corrective lens; transforming the captured image to an ideal coordinate system; processing the captured image to determine an overall distortion from a reference pattern to the pattern of the captured image; determining a distortion of the captured pattern attributable to the corrective lens; and measuring at least one characteristic of the corrective lens. In some embodiments, the overall distortion is determined by detecting, in the captured image, at least one captured pattern landmark; determining a transformation from at least one ideal pattern landmark to the at least one captured pattern landmark; and determining for the corrective lens, from the transformation, a spherical power measurement, a cylinder power measurement, and an astigmatism angle measurement.

Fixtureless lensmeter and methods of operating same

Systems and methods for determining in-situ hydrate saturation of hydrate-bearing formations using dielectric properties of gas hydrate amounts are described. In accordance with one aspect, a method for determining gas-hydrate saturation concentration of hydrate-bearing formations includes collecting data using a dielectric propagation tool indicative of propagation time (t) and attenuation time (&#x3b1;), collecting data indicative of density using a density device, and processing the combination of data indicative of t, &#x3b1; and density to determine the concentration of gas-hydrate saturation and porosity of the formations.
