An encoder device for determining a kinematic value of the movement of a first object relative to a second object is provided, wherein the encoder device comprises a standard associated with the first object and at least one scanning unit associated with the second object for producing at least one scanning signal by detection of the standard and a control and evaluation unit that is configured to determine the kinematic value from the scanning signal. The control and evaluation unit is here further configured to determine the kinematic value by an evaluation of the scanning signal using a method of machine learning, with the evaluation being trained with a plurality of scanning signals and associated kinematic values.

A rotary encoder () is provided, including a shaft (W) connected to and drivable by an external shaft, a first gear unit (G) and a second gear unit (G), each following rotations of the shaft (W). Both gear units (G, G) (Gand G) are drivable independently of one another by the shaft (W), a first gear stage (GS) of the first gear unit (G) has a first detection unit (E), and a gear stage (GS) downstream of a first gear stage (GS) of the second gear unit (G) has a second detection unit (E). An evaluation unit derives the angular position from signals of the detection units (E, E) and compares the rotations of the first gear stage (GS) and the downstream gear stage (GS) for plausibility, taking into account a known ratio of the rotation of the first gear stage (GS) to the rotation of the downstream gear stage (GS).

The invention relates to a transmission and reception unit for the detection of a rotary angle, having a light transmitter for the transmission of transmitted light to a dimensional scale and having a light receiver which lies on a support, the light receiver having a front side for the reception of reception light influenced by a dimensional scale disposed opposite the front side and having a rear side which is supported on a support transparent for the transmitted light. In order to provide a new assembly concept for the positioning of the light source and of the receiver and in particular to provide an arrangement which is as symmetrical as possible it is suggested that the transparent support is arranged between the light receiver and the light transmitter and that a light deflection apparatus is provided for the deflection of the transmitted light.

A device for measuring the rotating angle of two objects rotating in relation to each other around an axis includes a light source and a polarizer, whereby the light source and the polarizer rotate in relation to each other as function of the rotating angle. The device also includes a receiver measuring the luminous intensity reflected by the polarizer, to produce a signal dependent on the rotating angle. The receiver has at least one initial reception element and the light emitted by the light source is either polarized or becomes polarized. A polarizing filter with an initial direction of polarization is positioned in front of the first reception element. At least one element casting a shadow is positioned in front of the receiver and the receiver has at least one quadrant diode. The invention relates to an improved encoding disk for an optical rotation angle sensor or a rotary encoder, an optical rotation sensor or rotary encoder comprising an improved encoding disk, and a method for optically correcting or compensating for an angle measuring error of a rotary encoder, in particular an angle measuring error which is contingent on a displacement or decentralization of the encoding disk. The encoding disk () comprises at least one measuring track () and at least one compensating track (), wherein the measuring track () is in a first radial region of the encoding disk (); and the compensating track () is centered with regard to the measuring track () on a second radial region of the encoding disk () so that the center of the measuring track () coincides with the center of the compensating track (). The compensating track () is preferably designed such that at least one part of the light incident on a region of the compensating track is deflected by the compensating track () radially in the direction of the axis through the common center of the compensating track () and the measuring track (). The direction of the readout light which is deflected by the compensating track preferably intersects the axis through the common center of the compensating track and the measuring track, wherein the distance between the compensating track and said intersection corresponds to the length of the light path between the compensating track and the measuring track. The readout light can be coherent or incoherent. The radius of the compensating track can be less than, greater than, or equal to the radius of the measuring track.
