A method is implemented by a processor of a computing device for generating an output match action table (MAT) or output MAT template from an input MAT template. The input MAT template is transformed through successive updates of symbolic actions using policy rules into the output MAT or output MAT template. The method includes selecting a first MAT row from the input MAT template and selecting a first action field from the first MAT row. A check is made whether the first action field includes a first symbolic action. The first symbolic action is looked up to determine whether a first policy rule has been defined for the first symbolic action. A first action specified by the first policy rule is written into a corresponding action field of a corresponding MAT row in the output MAT template or the output MAT to replace the first symbolic action.

Pre-built match-action tables

A photovoltaic panel wire cover assembly, used with a PV panel having a perimeter trim piece, includes clips, an elongate wire cover and fastener structure. Each clip includes a proximal end and long and short legs, the long leg parallel with and joined to the short leg at the clip proximal end. A gap between the long and short legs is sized for receipt of the trim piece. The wire cover includes a wire-covering housing defining a housing interior and having first and second opposite sides and a first flange extending from the first opposite side and positioned against the long leg. The fastener structure engages the short leg and the first flange to bias the first flange and the long leg therewith towards the short leg. The wire cover can be fastened to the trim piece through the clips without penetrating the PV panel.

A mounting clip, mounting an element to a structure having trim with a thickness, includes a body having first and second legs with a gap therebetween sized for receiving the trim. The first leg is positionable against the element. The first and second legs have aligned, possibly threaded, through holes. The element can be fastened to the trim through the clips without penetrating the structure. The first leg has a distal end which can be curved to act as a trim engagement element. The mounting clip and fastener structure, such as a threaded fastener, can constitute a mounting clip assembly. A PV panel wire cover assembly includes a wire-covering housing having open ends and a mounting flange. Closed and open end cap mountable to the open ends prevent access to the housing interior when the housing is mounted to the panel, the open end cap having a wire passage opening.

A PV assembly wire tray includes a PV panel-support purlin and a wire cover secured to the purlin. The purlin includes a web, having first and second ends, and first and second plates extending from the first and second ends. The wire cover includes a first panel, extending from the first end oft web, and a second panel extending from the second end of the web. A wire-protecting chamber is defined by the web, the second plate, the second panel and the first panel.

A PV panel wire cover assembly includes an elongate wire cover and a plate coupler, the assembly used with a PV panel having perimeter trim with a leg spaced apart from the PV panel to define a gap therebetween. The leg of the perimeter trim has a perimeter trim thickness. The wire cover has first and second opposite sides and a first flange extending from the first side with a slot formed therein. The plate coupler includes a fastener and a plate having proximal portion and a distal portion, the distal portion sized for receipt within the gap. The fastener passes through the slot and has first and second portions engaging the first flange and the proximal portion of the plate respectively. The wire cover can be fastened to the perimeter trim of the PV panel through the plate coupler without penetrating the PV panel.

Methods and related radio base stations (RBS) for handling data traffic are disclosed. The RBS is connected to a remote node via a wireless channel and to a centralized unit via a first channel. The traffic between the remote node and the centralized unit may be carried on the wireless or the first channel. The RBS receives information about quality and capacity of the wireless channel and information on quantity and priority of upstream data traffic waiting to be transferred from the remote node to the centralized unit. Based on the information, the RBS determines that at least part of the upstream data traffic from the remote node should be carried on the wireless channel.

A method in a communication network is disclosed. The network comprises first and second transport mediums connected in series. Access to the first and second transport mediums is controlled by first and second MACs, respectively. A traffic client of the second MAC receives traffic on the first transport medium for forwarding to the second transport medium. The method comprises receiving from the first MAC information about traffic demands from traffic clients of the first MAC. The method further comprises using the received information, together with information about traffic demands from traffic clients of the second MAC, as input to making a medium access grant decision for the second MAC, wherein the medium access grant decision for the second MAC implements a coordination between traffic access to the first and second transport media. The method also comprises instructing implementation of the medium access grant decision for the second MAC.

Methods and apparatus for traffic management in a communication network

An optical access network comprises optical network units connected to a node. A monitoring unit determines information indicative of energy consumption at the optical network unit over a period of time. An optical network unit can operate in operating states/modes which differ in their energy consumption. Monitoring unit can determine the information by determining a time that an optical network unit spends in the different operating states/modes. Monitoring unit can use a state machine at the node which represents the optical network unit. An optical network unit can locally record time spent in states/modes and forward this to the monitoring unit. An optical network unit can locally monitor energy consumption and forward this to the monitoring unit. An operational parameters of the access network can be modified based on the information determined by the monitoring unit.

Monitoring energy consumption in optical access networks

A method executed by an optical line terminal (OLT) in a passive optical network (PON). The PON includes a plurality of optical network units (ONUs) coupled with the OLT through an optical fiber, the ONUs sharing a bandwidth of the optical fiber. The method includes receiving, from the ONU, an energy conservation message indicating support for the reduced buffer memory size. The reduced buffer memory size is calculated based on the maximum committed transmission rate and the burst size limit for the downstream traffic intended for the ONU. A notification is transmitted to the ONU indicating that a portion of the buffer memory can be powered down such that only the reduced size of the buffer memory remains in operation, and downstream traffic intended for the ONU is transmitted at an average transmission rate and burst size not exceeding the maximum committed transmission rate and the burst size limit.

Energy conservation by means of traffic shaping

A method for data set migration, implemented in a network device is disclosed. The method includes receiving a request at a network device to migrate a data set, and sending a signaling packet from a first data center toward a first in a series of circuit switching devices to reach a second data center, where the signaling packet includes metadata containing transmission selection and characteristics of the data set, where the signaling packet is processed through the series, each of which configures its forwarding path based at least on the metadata of the signaling packet. The method continues with waiting for a period long enough to allow each of the series to configure its forwarding path, where that circuit switching device releases the configured forwarding path after the migration duration. The method continues with sending the data set following the transmission selection of the signaling packet after the period expires.
