A system for controlling power output of a power supply includes power conversion circuitry, output terminals, and a controller. The controller controls the power conversion circuitry to provide a known current to one or more leads, wherein the one or more leads are shorted at the distal end. The controller measures a voltage drop across the one or more leads shorted at the distal end. The controller stores a parameter determined based on the voltage drop, such as a resistance of the one or more leads. The controller controls the power conversion circuitry to provide a target voltage to the load based on the stored parameter when the one or more leads are not shorted at the load.

Systems, methods, and devices for remote sense without wires

An electrosurgical system includes an electrosurgical probe connected to a control console, wherein the probe is capable of coagulating and ablating tissue depending on a selected operating mode. Before operating the system, probe-specific data stored in a memory device associated with the probe is read by a processing device in the console. The data includes source impedance values specific to a coagulation or cutting mode of operation. A constant duty cycle value for a modulated cutting mode also is provided. Depending on the operating mode selected, an RF generator adjusted to have a predetermined source impedance value provides a voltage value to the probe. During the duty-cycled mode, the RF generator generates an instantaneous voltage value output for a duty cycle portion that is less than 100% of a time period, which value is no less than a maximum continuous average voltage value for the electrosurgical probe.

Method and system for adjusting source impedance and maximizing output by RF generator

A light source assembly includes multiple light emitters having output that are focused and mixed onto a optical fiber leading to an endoscope or other device. The emitters can be LEDs or solid state lasers that emit different colors. A driver circuit controls the relative output intensities of the light emitters so as to produce a desired light spectrum. A driver circuit includes a buck topology connected to a controller that provides current mode control. Pulse width modulation of the buck current is provided by a semiconductor switch across a solid state laser. A second order filter, formed by the an external inductor and the output capacitance of the buck topology, minimizes AC current ripple to the laser.

Endoscopic light source

A circuit includes a first input terminal for receiving a first pulsed voltage and a second input terminal for receiving a second pulsed voltage. The circuit further includes a load and an LC filter. The LC filter includes a coupled inductor pair that includes a first winding and a second winding magnetically coupled to each other. The first winding is coupled between the first input terminal and the load, and the second winding is coupled between the second input terminal and the load. A frequency of a first current flowing through the first winding is increased by the second pulsed voltage applied to the second winding.

A laser device includes a plurality of lasers that includes a first laser and a second laser. The laser device further includes a drive circuit configured to apply a pulsed current to the first laser at a first phase. The drive circuit is further configured to apply the pulsed current to the second laser at a second phase. The first phase and the second phase are different. A total voltage provided to the plurality of lasers during a period between the first and second phases is substantially smaller than a sum of individual voltages provided to the plurality of lasers, respectively, during a pulse period of the pulsed current.

A transducer is optimally driven at or near its resonant frequency by a driver system that adapts to variations and/or changes to the resonant frequency of the transducer due to variations in piezo materials, manufacturing, assembly, component tolerances, and/or operational conditions. The system may include an output controller, a phase track controller, a frequency generator, a drive, circuitry to determine a phase angle between the transducer voltage and transducer current, and circuitry to obtain transducer admittance from the transducer voltage and transducer current.

System and method of driving ultrasonic transducers

An electrosurgical system comprising, among other things, a control console to which detachably connects one or more electrosurgical probes capable of coagulating and ablating tissue. The control console generates a selectively variable power signal having a duty cycle that is dynamically modulated so as to maintain an average power level of a probe that is lower than a predefined maximum power level. The system can also incorporate both an impedance monitoring system and a current monitoring system as means to detect potentially dangerous situations, as well as a monitoring system for detecting impedance at relatively low power levels upon first activation of the probe. The probe can also incorporate non-volatile memory for storing probe-specific operating parameter data, probe usage data, data restricting probe use, error codes, and control console updates.
