A subject is illuminated in accordance with the sequence of colors. A sequence of images of the subject is captured, where the sequence of images is temporally synchronized with illumination by the color-coded sequence. A filtered response image is generated by a matched filtering process on the sequence of images using the selected color-coded sequence. A determination is made, based on structural features around an eye region of the filtered response image, that the subject is a live person. Responsive to determining that the subject is a live person, initiating an authentication process to authenticate the subject.

Each image is captured at a different corresponding relative location of the image capture device with respect to the subject. Parameters are determined from the set of images of the subject. The parameters represent corneal reflections of at least one object in at least one eye of the subject. A determination is made, based on the parameters, that the subject is a live person. Responsive to determining that the subject is a live person, an authentication process is initiated to authenticate the subject.

A color-coded sequence is randomly selected from the set of color-coded sequences. A subject is illuminated in accordance with the sequence of colors in the selected color-coded sequence. A sequence of images of the subject are captured and are temporally synchronized with illumination by the color-coded sequence. A filtered response image is generated from the sequence of images by a matched filtering process. Based on the filtered response image, it is determined that the subject is an alternative representation of a live person. In response, access to a secure system is prevented.

The one or more images, from each of the two eyes are used to obtain respective corneal reflections. Depth information associated with a scene in front of the subject is determined, based on an offset between the respective corneal reflections. Responsive to determining that the subject is a live person, an authentication process is initiated to authenticate the subject.

Methods, systems, and computer-readable storage media for determining that a subject is a live person include obtaining a first image captured using a first camera disposed on a first side of a mobile device and obtaining a second image captured using a second camera disposed on a second side of the mobile device that is on the opposite side of the first side. The first image includes a representation of reflections visible on the corneas of a subject. The first image and the second image are pre-processing to generate a third image and a fourth image, respectively, where a first field of view represented in the third image at least partially overlaps with a second field of view of the fourth image. A determination is made, based on the third and fourth images, that a scene represented in the first field of view is substantially same as a scene represented in the second field of view. Responsive to determining that the scene represented in the first field of view is substantially same as the scene represented in the second field of view, identifying the subject as a live person.

Spoof detection by correlating images captured using front and back cameras of a mobile device

The present disclosure is directed towards a compact, mobile apparatus for iris image acquisition, adapted to address effects of ocular dominance in the subject and to guide positioning of the subject's iris for the image acquisition. The apparatus may include a sensor for acquiring an iris image from a subject. A compact mirror may be oriented relative to a dominant eye of the subject, and sized to present an image of a single iris to the subject when the apparatus is positioned at a suitable distance for image acquisition. The mirror may assist the subject in positioning the iris for iris image acquisition. The mirror may be positioned between the sensor and the iris during iris image acquisition, and transmit a portion of light reflected off the iris to the sensor.

In a system for determining liveness of an image presented for authentication, a reference signal is rendered on a display, and a reflection of the rendered signal from a target is analyzed to determine liveness thereof. The analysis includes spatially and/or temporally band pass filtering the reflected signal, and determining RGB values for each frame in the reflected signal and/or each pixel in one or more frames of the reflected signal. Frame level and/or pixel-by-pixel correlations between the determined RGB values and the rendered signal are computed, and a determination of whether an image presented is live or fake is made using either or both correlations.
